An organic liquid composition for use with a heat sinterable porcelain powder, such as dental porcelain powder, which binder composition comprises a mixture of organic liquids which have an index of refraction of the porcelain powder to be mixed with the organic liquid binder.

Organic liquid binder composition for porcelain powders

A heat sinterable porcelain powder mix and a method of preparing a sintered porcelain product of desired color, particularly for use in the fabrication of dental appliances, which mix comprises an admixture of a porcelain powder with an organic liquid binder, which binder has an index of refraction the same or substantially the same as the index of refraction of the porcelain powder, thereby permitting visualization of the true post-sintered color of the porcelain powder mix during application and prior to heat sintering.

A tooth crown or the like fixed, custom fitted dental appliance made of a fired ceramic which undergoes substantially no shrinkage when fired, the appliance being made by forming a compact of the raw prefired ceramic with an undersurface shaped for a precise fit onto the prepared tooth on which the appliance is to be used, and thereafter firing the compact to a dense hard monolithic structure.
