A method of modifying an imaging cartridge detachably mountable to an imaging apparatus, the imaging cartridge comprising a cartridge chip, the method including detaching the cartridge chip from the imaging cartridge, the cartridge chip comprising a light emitting device adapted for emitting light in the visible spectrum; and attaching a replacement cartridge chip to the imaging cartridge, the replacement cartridge chip comprising a light emitting device adapted for emitting light outside the visible spectrum.

Imaging apparatus and methods

A method of cleaning and coating a used organic photoconductive drum is disclosed. Using this method remanufacturers can reliably reuse certain used organic photoconductive drums which could not be reused without this method. The method comprises providing a used organic photoconductive drum, cleaning the surface of the used organic photoconductive drum, applying a new surface layer comprising a non-volatile non-polar dielectric fluid such as a silicone oil with a viscosity of less than 200 cSt at 40 degrees Celsius. The resulting liquid surface on the used organic photoconductive drum provides wear resistance, and improved electrical characteristics allowing the used organic photoconductive drum to be used at least a second time.

Methods and apparatus for providing a liquid coating for an organic photoconductive drum

A Method of Manufacturing a Developer Roller in which a wetting agent is added to a polymer and graphite to ensure thorough dispersion of the graphite. The developer roller's performance is further improved by spray applying a surface layer of graphite and wetting agent and burnishing this surface layer after spray application. Additional improvements are seen by using many multiple steps of spraying thin coats to improve adhesion between the spray applied coats.

Method of manufacturing a developer roller

A cylindrical sleeve suitable for holding and conveying image forming toner particles is provided by a hollow cylinder of a non-magnetic material the exterior surface of which is texture by sand blasting and then by electrolessly coating the hollow cylinder with a durable uniform thin layer of an alloy of molybdenum, nickel and phosphorus. The interior of the hollow cylinder contains a magnet capable of generating a magnetic field sufficient to hold toner particles on the surface of the cylindrical sleeve.

Durable coated magnetic development roller

A non-ferrous metal is recovered from a batch of scrap material by combustion of a fuel to generate heat and transmittal of said heat to the material by convection flow. The flow rate of fuel is regulated to obtain and maintain an optimum temperature below the melting point of the metal causing decomposition of non-metallics in the batch of scrap material within a non-oxidizing atmosphere.
