A fail-safe arrestor for electrical circuits utilizes a gas-filled tube to conduct at an over-voltage and also provides a clip to solidly couple the circuit to a ground lead at the melting from continuous current flow of an insulator interposed between an electrode and the ground lead, which insulator is a mesh with a plurality of passages allowing arcing between the electrode and clip at or above a predetermined voltage, and thus the ground lead, for a vented gas-filled tube.

Fail safe gas tube

A transient voltage protector is provided for telephone lines and the like. An insulating plastic housing is provided with two pairs of terminals having female connections at the lower ends for association with selected terminals of a telephone terminal block. The upper ends of these terminals are of a male type and extend above the top of the housing for receipt of further elements such as bridging clips, plug-on fuse units, or line status indicators. An offset and raised portion of the housing carries a pair of zener diodes having lower wire terminals connected to two of the aforesaid terminals. The upper wire terminals of the zener diodes are connected to a grounding terminal having an upper portion extending above the housing in the form of two spaced tines for receipt of a common ground wire between the tines. The various terminals and the zener diodes and the housing have complementary structure for positioning of the terminals and the diodes within the housing.

Transient voltage protector

A drop wire clamp is provided for suspending a coaxial cable drop wire or the like. The clamp is of molded plastic resin material comprising a body having converging clamping surfaces on the interior thereof, and a two part wedge having external tapered surfaces engageable with the body converging clamping surfaces to wedge the two parts of the wedge together. The two parts of the wedge have confronting surfaces defining a channel for gripping a cable. The channel undulates transversely longitudinally thereof, and a pair of smaller adjacent, parallel channels of similar undulating construction are provided on either side of the first-mentioned channel for gripping a messenger wire. An extension of the body is provided with an eyelet for hanging over a hook or the like.

Drop wire clamp

A bridging clip is provided for telephone circuits and the like comprising a pair of sheet metal legs initially converging, and diverging at the extremities to facilitate application of the bridging clip. Pairs of ribs which are relatively crossed are provided on the inner confronting surfaces of the legs at the areas of inflection between the converging and diverging portions of the legs, thereby increasing contact pressure and minimizing contact resistance.

Bridging clip

A tension indicating device which includes at least one indicating arm and reference means carried by a stamped generally frustoconical spring washer. A relieved area in the bearing surface of the washer prevents work surface irregularities from producing erroneous tension indications. The arm and reference means may mechanically engage one another and the arm may be made separately and attached to the washer. Indications made by the arm are designed to be visually discernable from a distance.

Tension indicating washer improvements

A fastener assembly for use with a high temperature heat transfer roll and is provided for joining a sheet of insulating material to the end of said roll by utilizing a protruding bolt head or the like. The fastener assembly comprises a cup-like body defining a cavity for receiving said bolt head and a quantity of adhesive material therewithin. A plurality of inwardly extending projections in said cup-like body cavity may be used to engage the bolt head substantially in an interference fit during setting of the adhesive material. A plurality of through apertures in the cup-like body permit release of any excess quantity of adhesive material therefrom. A shaft portion is formed integral with and projects axially outwardly from the cup-like body and away from the bolt head and is of sufficient axial extent to project through the sheet of insulating material. An enlarged head is carried on an axially outermost end of the shaft portion. A clamping member includes a first surface defining a complementary fastener aperture for engaging the enlarged head and a second, abutment surface extending radially outwardly of the first surface for overlying and abutting a portion of the sheet of material to thereby secure the sheet of material in juxtaposition to the protruding bolt head.

Fastener assembly for thermal insulation end panel for a paper machine

A block member having a pair of pins preassembled therein and including a recess in its bottommost, workpiece engaging surface. The recess is configured to accept a wire member and incorporates means to preassemble the clip to the wire prior to association with a work surface. The recess further includes a protuberance serving as a strain relief feature when the device and wire are clamped against the work surface.

Wire clamping device

A multifinger contact device is produced by a series of deforming stations which compress the fingers into die cavities decreasing the width of the fingers while severing the adjacent fingers from one another, by deforming the adjacent fingers first in one direction and then in the other to decrease the formation of burrs. A subsequent forming station may be utilized to confine the entire periphery of the finger so as to form opposing longitudinal edges on adjacent fingers into noncontacting curved surfaces.

Apparatus for making a multifinger contact

An integral multifinger contact with each finger being capable of flexing independently of one another while maximizing the number of independent finger contacts along a given contact line. The method involves the shearing of finger portions and elongating these portions during the shearing operation to provide a positive clearance between adjacent edges of the fingers. One embodiment of the invention being directed to a contact member particularly adapted for a rotary potentiometer while another embodiment has particular use in a linear potentiometer.
