An improved gasket particularly suitable for use in sensitive environments is disclosed. The preferred gasket of the present invention comprises at least one layer of a composite material of porous polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) polymer and resilient expandable microspheres. The composite material provides a number of significant advantages over existing PTFE and similar clean gaskets, including better seal under less compressive pressure, sufficient resilience to permit reuse, and retained porosity--allowing pressure equalization in the equipment to occur through the gasket itself.

Reusable resilient gasket and method of using same

The present invention advances the art of vibration damping material constructions known to date. In one aspect of the present invention, a vibration damping article comprises at least one layer of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE). The vibration damping article of the present invention may also comprise at least one adhesive layer for mounting to an object of interest. The vibration damping article of the present invention may also comprise at least one constrained layer, such as a metal or polymer film layer, for example. The constrained layer may be adhered to the PTFE layer, with a layer of adhesive, or the constrained layer may be adhered with heat, pressure, ultrasonics or other laminating means, depending upon the constrained layer construction.

Vibration damping article

An adsorbent assembly is provided for removing gaseous contaminants from an enclosure having an adhesive layer, an adsorbent layer and a filtering layer. An exterior mounted assembly is also provided having an outer layer containing a metal or metallized material that provides an electromagnetic shield to the enclosure.

Adsorbent assembly for removing gaseous contaminants

The present invention is an improved sorbent filter for use in both particulate filtration and absorption of gaseous contaminants in a variety of applications, such as for filtration in a computer disk drive. The filter of the present invention provides previously unavailable levels of combined particulate filtration and contaminant sorption while being capable of ready reconditioning (such as through washing with D.I. water).

Nonparticulating adsorbent recirculating filter

A compact sorbent filter for selectively sorbing contaminants and method of removing contamination from an enclosure with a filter is disclosed. The filter comprises a sorbent core including contaminant adsorbing material therein, an outer protective cover wrapped around the inner sorbent core so as to completely contain the sorbent core, with the exposed end(s) of the core being capped so as to encapsulate the sorbent core present within the filter while not limiting the amount of material contained therein. A sorbing filter is placed within an enclosure to remove gaseous contamination therein. The filter is particularly suitable for use in a computer disk drive or similar enclosure where out-gassing contamination may be a problem.

Non-particulating compact adsorbent filter

A self-adhesive vent filter adsorbent assembly with diffusion tube is provided for removing gaseous contaminants from an enclosure comprising a layer of polymer film forming a diffusion tube, two adhesive layers, at least one filtration layer and optionally an absorbent layer. An outside mounting assembly is also provided.
