Laces for shoes, sneakers, or other wearing apparel that adjust easily, but stay tied. In one embodiment, the novel design is a flat lace having an upper and lower surface made from different materials. The surfaces have a relatively low coefficient of friction with respect to a shoe's eyelets. Upon being tied, the surfaces have a high coefficient of friction when they are in contact with one another. An alternative design includes a brush-like array of tiny fibers protruding from the lace surface. Another embodiment consists of a middle portion having material properties different from its end portions. An alternative design has two sets of opposing sides with different material properties. The inventive designs minimize the possibility of laces coming untied.

A structure for a food bag that is suitable for a larger than usual sized bag is described as being formed of two sections of a flexible material. The two sections of flexible material are arranged one over the other and sealed around their periphery. Another sealing line is located along at least one side spaced from the one periphery line to form an elongated stiffening compartment when filled with a suitable gas, such as air, under pressure. The remaining space between the sealed sections forms a food compartment that is maintained in an erect, upright position by the elongated stiffening compartment.

A method of determining the position and attitude of a first body, e.g. a body movable in six degrees of freedom, with respect to a second body comprising establishing three or more reference points which are not colinear on the first body, establishing three or more reference points which are not colinear on the second body and measuring at least six of the distances or angles between the reference points on the two bodies to determine the relative position and attitude of the two bodies.

A circuit is presented for eliminating a ghost signal from a television picture signal. A video amplifier amplifies the television picture signal which then is connected to an autocorrelator that will perform its mathematical functions of time delay, multiplication and integration to generate an output signal that is substantially free of ghost signals. A preferred form of the ghost signal elimination circuit includes microcomputer circuit means to perform the mathematical functions which permits use of standard, commercially-available autocorrelator circuits. Described also is way to package certain component parts including the autocorrelator to eliminate these undesirable signals from television sets already on the market.

The disclosures gives a system for indicating visually to a pilot within his normal field of view, so that the pilot need not turn his head, both the identity of a knob or switch which the pilot's hand is touching and also the setting of that switch. The arrangement prevents spatial disorientation, or pilot's 'vertigo', by informing the pilot the identity as well as the present setting of a switch located remotely in his cockpit, outside of his normal field of view, without the pilot having to turn his head to look at the switch.

A system that utilizes a light pen for changing the alphanumeric value of certain information that is displayed on the screen of a cathode ray tube. Certain parameters and their alphanumeric values are displayed on the CRT screens. A row of dots or other characters are drawn on the CRT screens next to the listed parameters. When the operator of this invention touches one of the dots or other characters with a light pen, the parameters next to the dots or characters will be identified and the alphanumeric value of that parameter will be either incremented or decremented at a fast or slow rate, depending upon the position of the dot in the array. Various types of arrays may be utilized.

System for changing alphanumeric values that are displayed on cathode

A field of view display for presenting data in focus on a subject's far field of view is disclosed. The display comprises an optically transparent viewing medium interposed between a subject and the subject's far field of view. Display units are attached to or embedded in the medium for producing a visual signal to the subject which is small enough to allow substantially unobstructed viewing of the far field view. Focusing material connected to or comprising part of the medium between the subject and the display units brings the display units into focus on the subject's field of view.
