A fuse shield features a cylindrical body, a first cap cover, a second cap cover, and a stop region. The cylindrical body is adapted to be placed over and partially surround a cylindrical fuse. The cylindrical body is sandwiched between the first and second cap covers. The stop region is located on an edge of the first cap cover to limit rotation of the cylindrical fuse to a first degree in one direction on a flat surface.

A reed switch including a cylindrical enclosure with two ends, a first blade and a second blade is disclosed. The first blade has a first lead, a first web, and a first contact, and the first web is bent at a first angle as compared to the first lead. The second blade has a second lead, a second web, and a second contact, and the second web is bent at a second angle as compared to the second lead. The first contact is disposed adjacent to the second contact with a gap between them.

A compact, high breaking capacity fuse that includes a top and bottom insulative layer and a single piece fusible element disposed between the top and bottom insulative layer. The top and bottom insulative layers include cavities that are aligned at assembly to form a chamber in which a fusible element portion of the single piece fusible element is disposed. The single piece fusible element additionally includes terminal portions that extend along outer surfaces of the top and bottom insulative layers.

High current one-piece fuse element and split body

A sealed fuse in accordance with the present disclosure may include a tubular fuse body, a trench formed in an exterior of the fuse body, and an electrically conductive endcap that fits over an end of the fuse body and is fastened to the fuse body by an electrically conductive material having a lip portion that extends into the trench to provide a barrier that extends between the fuse body and the endcap. In an embodiment, the trench may be formed in an end face of the fuse body and may extend entirely around an opening in the end of the fuse body. In another embodiment, the trench may be formed in an outwardly-facing surface of a sidewall of the fuse body and may extend entirely around the fuse body.

A circuit protection device including a housing having a top section mounted to a bottom section, a first arc barrier extending from the bottom section, a second arc barrier extending from the top section, the top and bottom sections mounted together to define a cavity between the first arc barrier separated a distance from the second arc barrier, a first terminal and a second terminal secured to the bottom section, and a fuse element comprising a body of metallic material arranged in one of a plurality of geometric configurations mounted within the top section and the bottom section of the housing, extending through the first arc barrier and the second arc barrier and connected to the first and second terminals, wherein the first and second arc barriers resist arcing upon activation of the fuse and the fuse element melts upon occurrence of an overcurrent condition.

A configuration for fuses and a method of manufacturing is disclosed. A fuse body is made with slots on the ends, allowing solder a greater surface area to grip the body and form an excellent bond. The slots communicate with a central cavity in the fuse body. The improvements relate primarily to surface mount fuses because of the great volume of such fuses in commerce, but may be applied to fuses of any size.
