Aspects of the present disclosure provide multi-layer microphone protection for any apparatus that captures sound. The apparatus includes an enclosure defining a first cavity. A microphone element is coupled to the first cavity. The microphone element comprises a microphone sensor and a microphone cavity. A first, outer protective layer is disposed at an outer end of the first cavity, closer to the external environment. A second, inner protective layer is disposed between an inner end of the first cavity and the microphone element. The second, inner protective layer may protect the microphone sensor from particles or liquids that may have passed through the first protective layer. The first and second layers may have different acoustic properties.

A directional acoustic device with an acoustic source or an acoustic receiver and a conduit to which the acoustic source or acoustic receiver is acoustically coupled and within which acoustic energy travels in a propagation direction from the acoustic source or to the acoustic receiver. The conduit has a radiating portion that has a radiating surface with leak openings that define controlled leaks through which acoustic energy radiated from the source into the conduit can leak to the outside environment or through which acoustic energy in the outside environment can leak into the conduit. The radiating surface has a thin sheet with openings through the sheet, and a cover material with a greater acoustic resistance than an acoustic resistance of an opening. The cover material covers at least parts of at least some of the openings, to define controlled acoustic leaks into or out of the conduit.

Directional acoustic device and method of manufacturing a directional acoustic device

A headset includes a first speaker coupled to a first compensation network and a second speaker coupled to a second compensation network. The headset also includes a differential sensing module configured to determine a differential signal between a first input signal associated with the first speaker and a second input signal associated with the second speaker. The differential signal is used to determine whether the headset is detected as worn by a user. A controller adjusts a power level supplied to the headset based on the differential signal.

Provided is a microphone compatibility device comprising a sensor that detects a voltage along a conductive path between a microphone and at least one electronic device and a current control device that draws current for permitting microphone detection by each of a first electronic device and a second electronic device.
