A bone anchor is provided that can toggle in two planes for secure anchorage within a bone cavity. The bone anchor includes an oblique suture channel configured such that a suture strand extending through the bone anchor can be tensioned to toggle the bone anchor inside the bone cavity. The suture strand can be located on the same side of the anchor body to maximize the area of the anchor surface which engages bone, resulting in increased engagement into bone and resistance to tensile forces.

Absorbable bone anchor

A suture anchor having a conical surface and a bore in which an end of an insertion tool is inserted. The insertion end of the insertion tool is made of material having elastic properties. The bore and base of the suture anchor are angled with respect to the central axis of the suture anchor and preferably are parallel to each other. During insertion, the suture anchor is reoriented to fit into the hole, thereby bending the elastic end of the insertion tool. When the suture anchor is within cancellous bone tissue, the elastic properties of the insertion tool deploys the suture anchor to an orientation in which the suture anchor cannot fit through the bone hole, thereby firmly anchoring the suture anchor in the human bone.

Apparatus and method for anchoring sutures

A suture anchor having a conical surface and a bore in which an end of an insertion tool is inserted. The insertion end of the insertion tool is made of material having elastic properties. The bore and base of the suture anchor are angled with respect to the central axis of the suture anchor and preferably are parallel to each other. During insertion, the suture anchor is reoriented to fit into the hole, thereby bending the elastic end of the insertion tool. When the suture anchor is within cancellous bone tissue, the elastic properties of the insertion tool deploy the suture anchor to an orientation in which the suture anchor cannot fit through the bone hole, thereby firmly anchoring the suture anchor in the human bone.

A suture anchor system configured so as to facilitate implantation of a suture anchor within a bore formed in a bone, so as to secure a suture to the bone, is provided. Such a system comprises a suture anchor having a suture operably engaged therewith and an insertion tool having a tip and defining a first axis. The insertion tool is discrete with respect to the suture anchor and is capable of implanting the suture anchor within the bore such that the suture anchor is secured in the bone. The tip is engagable with the suture anchor and is configured to cooperate therewith so as to prevent the suture anchor from rotating about the first axis. Further, the insertion tool is configured with respect to the suture anchor such that a rotational force exerted on the insertion tool rotates the suture anchor about a second axis disposed perpendicularly with respect to the first axis. A predetermined axial seating force is then applied to the insertion tool, outwardly of the bore, to seat the suture anchor in the bore. The insertion tool is further configured so as to require an axial separation force to be applied thereto so as to separate the insertion tool from the suture anchor, wherein the separation force is no less than the seating force. Associated systems and methods are also provided.

Suture anchor system and associated method

A suture anchor is provided comprising a generally quadrilaterally shaped body having a bore-abutting surface with a leading gripping edge at one end of the bore-abutting surface, a trailing gripping edge at the other end, and a closing surface having an arcuate portion and a linear portion engaging the leading and trailing gripping edges, respectively, generally opposite the bore-abutting surface. The body further defines a suture bore extending transversely therethrough and an inserter bore adapted to receive an insertion tool. A suture engages the suture anchor through the bore and is adapted to engage bodily tissue to be secured to the bone. Also provided are a knotless suture anchor configuration, an associated insertion tool, and a suture anchor kit, as well as a method of implanting a suture anchor in a bore in a bone.

Suture anchor and associated method of implantation

There is provided a testing device for determining the amount of tension in the quadriceps muscle for the anterior cruciate ligament to fail. There is also provided a knee brace having three point fixation and includes a pair of first arm members positioned on opposite sides of the knee joint. The lower leg brace member has a pair of second arm members oriented and positionable on opposite sides of the knee joint. The rigid thigh member and lower leg member are secured to the wearer's leg by means of a flexible strap extending around the back of the leg and adjustably attached thereto. The mating ends of the arms are connected by a pair of parallel spaced-apart face plates forming polycentric hinges which permit the mating ends of the arms to pivot about the connections. Various forms of extension cushions are provided to limit the proximity of the mating ends to one another to thereby limit the forward movement of the arms.
