A solar module (and its fabrication method) is presented where a supporting substrate comprises a network of finger traces connected to bus bars. Photo-active layer portions and upper electrode layer portions are deposited on the substrate thereby forming a network of cells. The cells are connected in series by connecting the bus bar of one cell to the upper electrode layer of the adjacent cell, and the bus bars of two adjacent cells are coupled through a bypass element for protecting the cell array.

In some examples, the present disclosure relates to an implantable medical lead and medical device systems employing such leads for medical applications, such as, e.g., neural stimulation, deep brain stimulation, and/or sensing of bioelectrical signals. An apparatus is described for coating a flexible substrate with at least a first organic layer and a first inorganic layer. The apparatus comprises a first and a second chamber and an atmosphere decoupling slot between the first and the second chamber. A printing facility is arranged in the first chamber, for printing the flexible substrate with a mixture comprising at least one precursor for a polymer, oligomer or a polymer network and a polymerization initiator. A curing facility is arranged in the first chamber, for curing the deposited mixture, therewith forming the at least first organic layer. A vapor deposition facility is arranged in the second chamber, for depositing the at least first inorganic layer at the substrate provided with the at least first organic layer. A lead for use in neural stimulation comprises a core section having a proximal end and a distal end. A plurality of electrodes is coupled to the core section proximate the distal end. At least one contact is coupled to the core section proximate the proximal end. At least one thin film is wound around the core section from the proximal end to the distal end and electrically coupling the at least one contact and the plurality of electrodes. The at least one thin film forms a curved substantially planar shape in a relaxed state before being wound around the core section.
