An IG device configured to generate multiple image streams. The IG device may receive virtual environment (VE) model data identifying at least a portion of a VE. For each cycle of a plurality of cycles over a period of time, the VE model data may be intersected by a first view frustum to identify first scene data, and a graphics subsystem generates a first image based on the first scene data and outputs the first image for presentation. Substantially concurrently therewith, for each cycle, the VE model data may be intersected by a second view frustum to identify second scene data, and a second graphics subsystem of the device in parallel with the first graphics subsystem may generate a second image based on the second scene data and outputs the second image for presentation.

A simulator is disclosed which includes an image generator that includes a forward display system and a peripheral display system to provide a field of view. The forward display system utilizes a forward projection system to provide forward imagery with high-resolution. The peripheral display system utilizes a helmet-mounted display system to provide peripheral imagery. The forward and peripheral imagery are merged by the image-generator so as to provide a full field of view with as much high-resolution imagery as possible.

A power transmission and imaging system for an airship comprises a transmission antenna array configured to transmit an energy beam to a patch rectenna carried by the airship. Coupled to the patch rectenna is a power distribution and control network that supplies rectified power delivered by the energy beam into the proper format for delivery to a power storage system and a motor control system. The power storage system comprises one or more batteries to store the transmitted energy, while the motor control system powers various propellers, blowers, and valves maintained by the airship in order to descend the airship to the ground. The rectenna may also function as an imaging system in real-time. The image processing system uses the patch rectenna to transmit and receive signals, and in turn store and process the return signals (images).

Recognition of predetermined critical objects in a graphic display is enhanced by storing a plurality of object descriptions which are segmented into critical objects and background objects in an image database. The critical objects and the background objects are transferred to a computing engine which renders the critical objects and the background objects according to expert user recommendations. The critical objects are rendered separately with acuity enhancements to generate enhanced critical objects to greatly improve the realistic impression of the object in simulators. The background objects and the enhanced critical objects are then transferred into a memory buffer as a graphic image and it is then displayed at a single resolution.

A method of enhancing the appearance of predetermined objects in a graphic display, rendered by a computing engine, includes a step of determining the system limitations of the computing engine for displaying an object in the form of a group of pixels, wherein the group of pixels distorts representation of the object at a distant range within the graphic display. The method also includes the steps of constructing a base model of the object viewable at a normal range within the graphic display, constructing at least one enhanced model of the object to provide a first set of attributes to the group of pixels to compensate for the distortions of the object at the distant range within the graphic display, and storing the base model and at least one enhanced model in an image database. These &ldquo;intelligent models&rdquo; are then used in a simulation program.

A system and associated method for extracting image data from a representation of a geographic area to generate a digital geographic database that can be accessed by computer programs to analyze various features contained within the database. In particular, the method includes scanning an image of a geographic area, manipulating the image into a processable format of a plurality of pixels, and submitting the format to a neural network with user-guided rules. The neural network classifies the format into a plurality of categories which comprise the geographic database, thus foregoing the need to manually identify and classify each pixel of the scanned image as having a particular feature. To enhance the processing and structure of the database, an optimizer and a combiner are employed. Accordingly, the method provides a digital geographic database for use by government agencies, urban planners and any user desiring to obtain information from a geographic representation.
