A pan holder, attached to the ceiling, stores pans in an overhead position near the end of a flexible cantilever beam which is the working element of the holder. By pulling down, the holder is lowered to allow easy removal and attachment of the pans. The holder can be used for items other than pans and is designed so that it can be attached to a dry wall ceiling.

Pan holder

A method and apparatus for measuring profiles of ocean properties. The apparatus includes a stationary surface buoy to which a weight and cable are attached, the sensors traverse the cable by means of a hydrofoil the pitch of which is varied by a pressure activated sensing system. The apparatus is adapted for use under pack ice or ice bergs. The method is that of moving the sensors in a vertical direction along a guide cable beneath a surface buoy. The cable can hang from the pack ice or be buoyed upward from an anchor on the sea floor.

Method and apparatus for remote monitoring of oceanographic conditions

An electrostatic precipitator is disclosed comprising a series of parallel collector electrode plates of similarly corrugated form, with the continuously curved and successive crests and valleys of the corrugations of each plate positioned in opposition to the similar crests and valleys of the adjacent plates so as to form gas-flow channels that successively converge and diverge, forming alternate narrow and wide regions along the direction of flow between each pair of plates. Of one common electrical polarity, these collector electrode plates cooperate with an array of discharge filament electrodes of opposite common polarity located between each pair of plates, with one such filament electrode centered in and extending longitudinally of each of the wide regions defined between the opposing valleys of the adjacent plates. Of critical importance to achieving the objectives of the invention, the mean spacing between plates is required to be substantially in the range from half the corrugation wave length to the corrugation wave length, and the peak-to-peak corrugation magnitude or height to be substantially in the range between ten and twenty percent of the corrugation wave length.

Electrostatic precipitator

A high velocity, constant flow, liquid jet cutting apparatus comprising a source of high pressure fluid, a jet nozzle, and a high pressure conduit to carry the fluid from the source to the jet nozzle. Immediately upstream of the jet nozzle is a liquid collimating device comprising a housing interconnected between the conduit and the nozzle and defining a flow collimating chamber directly upstream of the nozzle, through which the high pressure liquid is delivered to the nozzle. The cross sectional area of the flow collimating chamber is at least greater than 100 times the cross sectional area of the nozzle opening, and desirably in the order of four hundred times as great or more. The resulting liquid jet has relatively little dispersion of the liquid and is capable of effectively cutting a relatively narrow kerf with a high quality finish and little, if any, wetting.
