A vehicle has a control system configured to perform, and a method for controlling a battery in a vehicle includes, the steps of modifying a state of charge of at least some battery cells in the battery, based on: a vehicle idle state, and the battery having at least a predetermined decay rate. The SOC of the at least some battery cells is modified such that the battery has less than the predetermined decay rate after the SOC is modified.

Vehicle and method for controlling a battery in a vehicle

A hybrid or electric vehicle includes a lithium-ion battery and a controller. The controller is programmed to discharge the battery through an electrical load to a predetermined voltage less than a voltage associated with zero state of charge such that relative degrees of lithiation associated with the electrodes of the battery change for at least one state of charge resulting in an increase in battery maximum capacity. The controller may be on-board or off-board of the vehicle. The electrical load may be part of the vehicle or external to the vehicle.

A cooling system may be operable to cool a battery pack or other device through a heat exchange operation supported, at least in part, with cycling of a coolant relative to a coldplate or other thermally conducting surface of the device and/or attached thereto. The system may include a coldplate operable to exchange heat with a battery pack; and a coolant tank operable to exchange heat with the coldplate, the tank having a channel for directing a coolant flow in a direction from an inlet of the tank to at least one outlet of the tank and an inlet accumulator between the inlet and a beginning of the channel, wherein the inlet accumulator is wider along the coolant flow direction than the channel and the inlet and having a sloped side leading towards the channel configured to pool the coolant flow prior to entry into the channel.

Battery pack liquid channel and coldplate cooling system

A low magnetic interference battery is provided, the battery insertable into a mobile communication device, the mobile communication device comprising a radio interconnected with a microphone and a receiver. The battery comprises a battery portion enabled to provide electrical power to the radio, the battery portion emitting a magnetic field when in operation. The battery further comprises a sealing portion for sealing the battery portion therein such that the battery portion is protected from moisture, the sealing portion comprising a magnetic shield portion arranged relative to the battery portion such that magnetic flux from the battery portion is routed away from the receiver when the battery is in operation in the mobile communication device.
