An outer casing string, including a surface casing head, and associated installation method. In some embodiments, the surface casing head includes an outer tubular member insertable through a diverter of an installed conductor system, an inner tubular member at least partially disposed within and moveable relative to the outer tubular member, and a sleeve ring rotatably coupled to the inner tubular. The outer tubular member has an annular recess. The sleeve ring includes a snap ring that is displaceable between an extended position and a retracted position. In the extended position, at least a portion of the snap ring is received within the annular recess, and the outer tubular member is axially immovable relative to the inner tubular member. In the retracted position, no portion of the snap ring is received within the annular recess, and the outer tubular member is axially moveable relative to the inner tubular member.

Outer casing string and method of installing same

Various tools for locking components in place within a wellhead housing are provided. In one embodiment, a system includes a lockdown tool () having an inner body (), an outer body () coupled to the inner body, and a locking mechanism () carried by the inner body. The locking mechanism can be selectively engaged by moving the outer body with respect to the inner body to secure the lockdown tool to the wellhead housing (). Additional systems, devices, and methods are also disclosed.

Casing hanger lockdown tools

Various tools for installing components in a wellhead housing are provided. In one embodiment, an apparatus includes a wellhead hanger running tool. The running tool includes a piston and a locking segment both disposed in a body of the running tool. The piston and the locking segment are positioned with respect to one another so as to allow the locking segment to be selectively driven by the piston to secure the running tool to a wellhead hanger received by the running tool. Additional systems, devices, and methods are also disclosed.

A hanger running tool for a hanger includes an outer sleeve and an inner driving sleeve. The outer sleeve is configured to engage and couple the hanger running tool to the hanger, and the inner driving sleeve is selectively axially movable within the outer sleeve for engagement with the hanger to prevent relative rotation between the hanger running tool and the hanger.

A system includes a valve having an annular body, a cap positioned circumferentially about the annular body, and a stem positioned within an axially-extending cavity of the annular body. The stem is coupled to the cap such that rotation of the cap relative to the annular body drives the cap and the stem axially relative to the annular body to adjust the valve.
