A computing device using diagnostic application software described herein allows an owner or operator of a premises to provide a service technician access to operational data from a movable barrier operator so that the technician's computing device can troubleshoot for possible issues with the operation of the barrier operator. The owner's computing device can send credentials to the technician mobile device so that the technician's computing device can then utilize the application to access the operational data. For added security, the application can further give the owner computing device control over the type and duration of access provided to the technician.

Access control operator diagnostic control

Application software for a mobile device can provide an owner or operator of a premises with the ability to remotely grant a guest authorization to access an access control device on or in the premises. The access control device can control the operation of the one or more secondary devices, so that with the owner authorization, the guest can access the access control device to cause an action at the premises with the secondary device. The application software can further provide the owner/operator the ability to restrict the third party access, such as temporally or spatially.

Control device access method and apparatus

An access controller apparatus and method for controlling physical access to an area are provided to determine a current priority level setting of the access controller and to ignore a received command in response to a comparison of the priority level of the received command to the current priority level setting of the access controller. Thus, a prioritized response to commands is provided such that commands of certain priority levels can be acted upon in certain situations. This helps allow for proper responses to multiple conflicting commands and for prioritized responses to commands of greater importance or of universal impact.

Command priority levels for an access controller apparatus

A barrier apparatus and method are provided to reciprocate a gate or barrier between an open or closed position with one or more linear drives having one or more traveler mechanisms where at least one motor rotates the one or more shafts and moves the traveler mechanisms to move the barrier. The moving traveler mechanisms are coupled to one or more connecting arms which are coupled to the gate and the movement traveler mechanisms push and pull the arms which in turn push and pull the barrier to reciprocate the barrier between and open and closed position. The gate may be rotated and reciprocated around a horizontal axis from a generally vertical position (i.e., generally perpendicular to the ground where access to a controlled area is open) to a generally horizontal position (i.e., generally parallel to the ground where the gate extends across the entryway to the controlled area).
