A method for producing a joining connection between at least two metal sheets or at least two components made of hot-workable sheet metal with a scaling-resistant coating, is provided. The method includes at least one step in which a connection is produced between the at least two metal sheets or sheet-metal components by hot-press soldering, wherein the surface of the metal sheets or components to be connected is pretreated in order to break up the coating.

Method for producing a joining connection between metal sheets

A pillar for a vehicle including at least two different localized areas of different tensile strengths. The pillar includes a body defining a width that merges into sidewalls at a transition. The body having a first tensile strength and the transition has a second tensile strength, wherein the first tensile strength is smaller than the second tensile strength. The variety in tensile strength resulting from at least one of varying the material treatment and varying the gauge. The pillar is press-hardened until it reaches a tensile strength of 1500 MPa to 2000 Mpa.

A multi-opening oven assembly for simultaneously heating a plurality of blanks, for example aluminum blanks, before forming the heated blanks in a production line is provided. The oven assembly includes vertically aligned shelves to present a plurality of chambers for heating the blanks. A table including an entry side platform and an exit side platform moves vertically along the oven assembly. A rail system extends along the platforms and the shelves to convey the blanks in and out of the chambers. Once one set of heated blanks is removed from a first chamber, the table moves vertically to a second chamber and is ready to receive the next set of heated blanks. A continuous supply of heated blanks is provided for high throughput. The oven assembly is preferably disposed in a press adjacent a forming station of an existing production line and thus, no additional floor space is required.

A coated steel component is provided. The coated steel component includes a substrate composed of a steel sheet which can be supplied to a hot-forming process. The coated steel component also possesses a non-metallic coating on the basis of silicon, in a layered structure. The layered structure includes three functional layers having the composition SiOxNyCz, wherein x lies between 30 and 70%, y lies between 0 and 35%, and z lies between 0 and 50%.

A tool for hot stamping metal sheets, formed least partially of a base block and a functional layer, is proposed. The functional layer comprises cooling channels and multiple functional layers, which building upon each other create the connection to the base block. The cooling channels are designed as a cooling channel array and are produced in a laser sintering method.

A traverse strut for use in a twist beam axle assembly is provided. The traverse strut extends along a length and presents a central section; a pair of end sections; and a pair of intermediate sections between the central section and the respective end sections. At least a portion of the central section has a first wall thickness, at least a portion of each end section has a second wall thickness that is greater than the first wall thickness and at least a portion of each intermediate section has a third wall thickness that is greater than the second wall thickness. Additionally, at least two of the central, intermediate and end sections is work hardened. The transverse strut has improved performance and lower weight as compared to other known transverse struts.

An automotive component () is manufactured by depositing a non-metallic coating () on a surface of a steel blank () before hot stamping the steel blank (). The non-metallic coating () is typically applied by physical vapor deposition. The non-metallic coating () is formed of one to three layers () each having a different composition. The non-metallic coating () includes at least one of silicon and carbon, and can also include oxygen, nitrogen, ceramic compounds, and carbides. The total thickness of the non-metallic coating () is less than 300 nm. A metallic coating () can be applied to the steel blank before the non-metallic coating (). The non-metallic coating () provides numerous advantages, including reduced scaling during the hot stamping process.

The invention relates to a bumper bracket for a motor vehicle body, comprising a first profiled section having a three-dimensional structure and a second component, which spatially closes the first profiled section. The two components have overlapping surfaces used for welding, wherein the welding is carried out by way of impulse capacitor discharge welding.

An impact beam for a motor vehicle body, and more particularly to a side impact beam for a side door of a motor vehicle body is provided. The impact beam has a first profiled section with a three-dimensional structure and a second component which spatially closes the first profiled section. The two components have overlapping surfaces used for welding, and the welding is carried out by way of impulse capacitor discharge welding.
