A method and apparatus for analyzing passenger flow. A three-dimensional model of a passenger cabin is received. Features in the three-dimensional model of the passenger cabin are identified in response to receiving the three-dimensional model. A first plurality of objects is generated for the features in the passenger cabin. User input identifying a number of characteristics for passengers is received. A second plurality of objects for the passengers is generated using the number of characteristics. The second plurality of objects is assigned to seats within the passenger cabin. Each of the second plurality of objects is assigned a destination location and has a behavior when encountering an obstacle while moving from a current location to the destination location. A movement of the passengers to a number of locations relative to the seats assigned to the passengers is simulated using the second plurality of objects.

Aircraft passenger flow system

Radio frequency energy deposition analysis can include receiving information defining one or more radio frequency sources. Information defining one or more objects interacting with energy from the radio frequency sources may also be received. Ray traces of radio frequency energy from the radio frequency source to the object may be calculated. Ray traces of radio frequency energy reflected off of the object can also be calculated. Finally, the radio frequency energy deposited onto the object from the ray traces can be determined. The deposited energy may be graphically displayed and queried.

Apparatus and systems described herein provide for a randomly-accessible electrical busbar with a protective cover and an associated mating connector. Both the busbar and the associated mating connector have multiple, electrically conductive bristles protruding from a surface. The busbar is protected by a nonconductive fabric cover to reduce the risk of a person from accidentally contacting the electrically conductive bristles. A connection is made between the mating connector and the busbar by the bristles of the mating connector penetrating the protective fabric cover and interdigitating with the bristles of the busbar.

A seat exercise device for use onboard a mobile platform such as a commercial aircraft is disclosed, wherein a passenger engages the exercise device while seated to reduce the risk of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) during extended periods of travel. The preferred embodiment of the present invention comprises a leg support secured to a passenger seat and a foot support secured to a lower end of the leg support. A trombone spring is secured between the leg support and the foot support such that a passenger may push down on the foot support to flex and contract thigh muscles. Additionally, a pivot spring is secured between the leg support and the foot support such that a passenger may pivot the foot support to flex and contract calf muscles. Accordingly, the flexing and contracting of leg muscles increases blood circulation and reduces the risk of DVT during long flights.

Seat exercise device

A system for developing a design of an environment such as an aircraft cockpit. A processor generates body models describing a percentage of a body population potentially to be accommodated by the environment. A processor-user interface displays an environment design relative to the body models. The interface accepts user changes to the design and the body models. The processor modifies the design and the body models in accordance with user changes. The system allows a designer of an airplane cockpit to rapidly visualize, analyze and assess its accommodation of a desired percentage of pilots.

Apparatus and methods for virtual accommodation

A seat back cushion assembly for a vehicle is provided. The assembly includes a cushion frame configured to pivotally attach to a seat frame to form a seat assembly. A first seat cushion is rotatably and slidingly attached to the cushion frame and configured to rotate from a first position to a second position and to slide from a second position to a third position such that, in the first position, the first seat cushion is configured to receive an infant and in the second and third positions, to serve as a cushion seat back. A second seat cushion is configured to rotate from a fourth position to cooperate with the first seat cushion to form a seat for receiving a child to a fifth position of the second seat cushion to cooperate with the first cushion in the third position to form a seat back for an adult.

Integral bifold seat system

A crew systems module for providing normal ingress to and egress from an aircraft cockpit flight station includes a seat assembly for supporting a crew member and a shell which supports the seat assembly and is pivotally attached to the aircraft adjacent the cockpit. The shell is pivotal from a closed position placing the crew member in a flight-ready position to an ingress/egress position placing the crew member in a generally standing position. The shell in the ingress/egress position extends downward from the cockpit toward the ground. The shell preferably extends downward through the aircraft's wheel well which houses a folding or collapsible landing gear during flight. The crew systems module may be incorporated in a capsule which is separable from the aircraft in an emergency.
