Exemplary light control devices and methods provide a regional variation of visual information and sampling ('V-VIS') of an ocular field of view that improves or stabilizes vision, ameliorates a visual symptom, reduces the rate of vision loss, or reduces the progression of an ophthalmic or neurologic condition, disease, injury or disorder. The V-VIS devices and methods generate a moving aperture effect anterior to a retina that samples and delivers to the retina environmental light from an ocular field of view at a sampling rate between 50 hertz and 50 kilohertz. Certain of these V-VIS devices and methods may be combined with augmented or virtual reality, vision measurement, vision monitoring, or other therapies including, but not limited to, pharmacological, gene, retinal replacement and stem cell therapies.

Light control devices and methods for regional variation of visual information and sampling

Exemplary light control devices and methods provide a regional variation of visual information and sampling ('V-VIS') of an ocular field of view that improves or stabilizes vision, ameliorates a visual symptom, reduces the rate of vision loss, or reduces the progression of an ophthalmic or neurologic condition, disease, injury or disorder. The V-VIS devices and methods may optically move, at a sampling rate between 50 hertz and 50 kilohertz, one or more apertures anterior to a retina between one or more positions anterior to the retina that are non-coaxial with a center of a pupil and a position anterior to the retina that is coaxial with the center of the pupil. Certain of these V-VIS devices and methods may be combined with augmented or virtual reality, vision measurement, vision monitoring, or other therapies including, but not limited to, pharmacological, gene, retinal replacement and stem cell therapies.

The present invention relates to compositions comprising silver nanoparticles for treating eyelash and eyelid margin infections and to methods of treating eyelash and eyelid margin infections, including infections by fungi, mites (e.g.,) and lice (e.g.,). We describe exemplary compositions, which may be formulated as a mascara for enhancing the appearance of the eyes, and their use in treatment of such infections.

A technique is provided for delivering plant supportive materials to plants. The technique obtains digital images of the surroundings via an image retrieval and sending device, and then provides a real-time audio interpretation of the images via an automated image identification and narration system. The automated system may have communication and computing circuitry, remote human interaction circuitry, and other components for either computer-based or human-based identification and narration of the acquired images.

Technique for providing simulated vision

A broadcast reception system or display system is combined with a computer. The reception system includes a receiver that is integrated with a computer, e.g. personal computer. The receiver may be configured to receive analog FM signals and linked data transmitted according to at least one of the RDS and MBS standards. The data serves as a data trigger to provide the user with a prompt on the computer system. The prompt may be utilized to access information related to the primary radio broadcast and previously stored at a memory location, such as a computer disk drive, CD or floppy disk. This permits a user to quickly and easily access large amounts of information relevant to the current programming of a given radio station or to purchase music, goods and services as they are featured in the FM broadcast.

A radio reception system is combined with a computer system. The radio reception system includes a radio receiver that is integrated with a personal computer system. Computer-based RDS/MBS receiver system for use with radio broadcast signal

A unique container system for holding and cleaning a soft contact lens over a period of time. The system includes a container base having a substantially dry cavity. A hydrophilic fixation and cleaning member is wetted and disposed within the substantially dry cavity. The contact lens is placed on the hydrophilic fixation member and held in a desired orientation while remaining hydrated due to the moisture from the hydrophilic fixation member. Also, a cover is disposed over the substantially dry cavity to enclose the hydrophilic fixation member and the contact lens during storage.

Soft contact lens cleaning and storage system

A cosmetic system and technique are provided for improving the texture and appearance of an individual's skin. The system includes a light transport modifier that may be applied to a portion of the individual's epidermis. The light transport modifier is designed to displace naturally occurring water within that portion. Energy from an appropriate laser, infrared lamp, or the sun can then be directed to a treatment area beneath the epidermal layer without detrimental heat buildup in that area of the epidermis.
