A resource exploration and recovery system including a first system, and a second system extending into a wellbore. The second system includes a completion having a casing defining a wellbore internal diameter. Chemical injection tubing extends from the first system into the completion. The chemical injection tubing includes a terminal end portion. A chemical introduction system is arranged at the first system and fluidically connected to the chemical injection tubing. The chemical introduction system is operable to deliver a chemical into the chemical injection tubing. A chemical injection assembly is mounted to the terminal end portion. The chemical injection system includes an anchor system operable to secure the chemical injection assembly to the casing.

Chemical injection system for completed wellbores

A resource exploration and recovery system includes a first system and a second system extending into a wellbore. The second system includes a completion having a casing defining a wellbore internal diameter. A chemical injection tubing extends from the first system into the completion. The chemical injection tubing includes a terminal end portion. A chemical introduction system is arranged at the first system and is fluidically connected to the chemical injection tubing. The chemical introduction system is operable to deliver a chemical into the chemical injection tubing. A chemical injector assembly is mounted to the terminal end portion. The chemical injection system includes an anchor and a chemical injector valve.

A system for diverting fluid in a borehole string includes an object configured to be deployed in the borehole string. The borehole string includes a plurality of fluid ports defining a plurality of zones along a length of the borehole string, each fluid port extending from a fluid conduit in the borehole string to at least one of: an annular region of the borehole string and a subterranean region. The object is configured to be advanced by a fluid to a fluid port to obstruct the fluid port and divert the fluid in the borehole string to another fluid port. The object includes a core portion made from a first material having a first property, and an outer portion at least partially surrounding the core portion and made from a second material, the second material being deformable and having a second property that is different than the first property.

Fluid diversion using deployable bodies

A system for regulating fluid flow in a geothermal energy production system includes a flow control device disposed in an injector well and/or a producer well, which are disposed in a subterranean region. The injector well includes an outflow port configured to inject a fluid into the region, the producer well includes an inflow port configured to receive the fluid from the region, and the outflow port and the inflow port are in fluid communication via one or more passages in the subterranean region between the injector well and the producer well. The flow control device is configured to restrict a flow of a fluid into the producer well based on a temperature and/or a flow rate of the fluid in the flow control device. The temperature and/or the flow rate selected to maintain a temperature of the fluid entering the producer well within a selected range.

Flow control in geothermal wells

A method of closing a fluid flow path in a wellbore is disclosed that in one non-limiting embodiment includes: supplying a flexible structure having a selected shape sufficient to seat on an opening of the fluid flow path, the flexible structure including pores of selected dimensions; determining seating of the flexible structure on the opening of the fluid flow path from a sensor measurement; and supplying a slurry containing a sealant to the flexible structure seated on the opening of the fluid flow path to plug the pores with the sealant to close the fluid flow path.

Apparatus and methods for closing flow paths in wellbores

An actuation system and method, the system including a tubular having a passage, and an assembly disposed with the tubular. The assembly includes a degradable restriction, the restriction only partially blocking the passage prior to being degraded. The assembly is configured to receive and prevent further movement of a restrictor through the tubular prior to the restriction being degraded. The assembly is further configured to release the restrictor when the restriction is degraded.

A debris catcher can include an anchor connected to the wellbore tubular and a filter fixed to the anchor. The filter is positioned in a bore of the wellbore tubular and has an disintegrable accelerator material located in a carrier body. The debris catcher formed at least partially of a disintegrable accelerator material located in a carrier body is conveyed in a wellbore tubular. The disintegrable accelerator material is exposed to a downhole material in a subterranean fluid flowing through the wellbore tubular. The debris catcher filters the downhole material. An apparatus can include a conveyance device having a flow bore, an isolator forming a testing volume at least partially defined by an inner surface of a wellbore tubular, and one or more pressure sensors generating signals representative of a pressure in the testing volume while the conveyance device moves the isolator axially through the wellbore tubular. The isolator substantially isolates a testing fluid received from the flow bore in the testing volume from an adjacent bore of the wellbore tubular. A location of at least one flow path in the wellbore tubular is identified by estimating a pressure of the testing fluid in the testing volume. Hydraulic injection diagnostic tool

A composite plug that can be used in fracturing has backup rings for the seal that are preferably made of a composite material. The backup rings are essentially connected segments that allow the connections to break when the plug is set and the cones are brought closer together. When the rings break to form gaps between segments in a specific ring, the adjacent ring has offset gaps so that as a whole there are no extrusion gaps that would allow the seal element to pass. The rings can be rotationally locked to each other initially at the adjacent segments that are formed when the plug is set to maintain their relative positions so that gaps between segments adjacent the seal are overlapped with segments from the adjacent ring. The segmenting backup rings can be used on one or on both sides of a sealing element.

A downhole tool for performing a wellbore operation includes a perforating gun, a detector module connected to the perforating gun, wherein the detector module transmits a command in response to a signal, a signal generator configured to transmit the signal to the detector module, and a plug dropping mechanism located adjacent to the detector module, the plug dropping mechanism releasing an object upon receiving the command from the detector module. The perforating gun is fired, and the downhole tool is activated. A plug-mate positioned adjacent to the plug dropping mechanism receives the object. The plug-mate has a profile complementary to the object, and the plug-mate and the object cooperating to block flow along the wellbore. In another mode of operation, an actuation member actuates the plug-mate. Short hop communications for a setting tool

A frac plug mandrel assembly has an inner core that permits flow that is surrounded by a thin wall tube that distributes compressive loading, such as that applied by the set sealing element to the core. The core is a cylindrically shaped insert for inside the tube and allows flow until a ball or plug is landed on a seat to close off the flow through the core. The core can have a star pattern with a series of radially extending segments from a solid hub or a cylindrical shape of a honeycomb or other porous structure that has the requisite strength to resist collapse from compressive loading of the set sealing element while still allowing sufficient flow area for fluid displacement.

Frac plug body

A device to be deployed downhole. The device includes a member including a metallic foam and a sealing material coupled to the metallic foam. The member attains a compressed shape when compressed to restrict fluid flow between regions downhole. The sealing material may be in, on or coated on the metallic foam member.
