A continually repeated chemical analysis of a process stream sample is effected by interposing the sample in a flow of titrant, flow of which is interrupted only to permit the interposition of the sample in the line of flow. A holding zone or chamber, e.g. a chromatographic column receives and holds titrant until the interposed sample in the column is titrated. Reaction product eluted from the column is detected.

Method and apparatus suitable for repeated, accurate chemical analyses

Method and apparatus are disclosed which provide for the automatic intermittent injection of a small sample of liquid from a process liquid stream, dilution of the small quantity sample of liquid in a diluent stream, injection of a small quantity of the thus diluted liquid sample in a carrier fluid stream and analysis of the diluted liquid sample in the carrier fluid stream to determine the composition of the process liquid. Means are also disclosed for the analysis of manually prepared samples or calibration samples.

Liquid sample dilution system

An improved method for the separation of the individual components contained in a process stream consisting essentially of 1,3-butadiene, styrene and cyclohexane is provided which comprises passing a sample of the stream through a silica-filled column in a liquid chromatographic apparatus. The carrier is passed through a drying chamber prior to introducing the carrier onto the column.
