Described is a method for producing a molded silicone rubber product using a liquid silicone rubber (LSR) base comprising at least one vinyl siloxane polymer, at least one hydride crosslinker, and optionally at least one injection molding inhibitor. The single LSR base is fed into a feed line, and into the feed line are fed an inhibitor master batch comprising at least one liquid injection molding inhibitor and at least one vinyl siloxane polymer, and a catalyst master batch comprising at least one catalyst and at least one vinyl siloxane polymer. The invention is further directed to: said LSR base; said inhibitor master batch; said catalyst master batch; and a molded silicone rubber article produced by the methods and compositions described herein.

A continuous process provides a devolatilized liquid injection moldable silicone composition. In the process, a filler, treating agent and silicone polymer are introduced into an extruder having a length to diameter ratio of at least greater than 50. The filler, treating agent and silicone elastomer are continuously compounded in the extruder into a devolatilized liquid injection moldable silicone composition. A system for preparing a liquid silicone rubber composition comprises a mixer to prepare a concentrate of filler and silicone polymer, a long extruder having an L/D ratio of greater than 50, connected to the mixer to receive the concentrate from the mixer and to compound and devolatilize the concentrate, a treating agent and silicone polymer into a liquid silicone rubber composition containing volatiles and a cooler to receive the liquid silicone rubber composition to cool, homogenize and further devolatilized the composition.

The present invention relates to a method for making nitrosamine-free silicone articles by treating the mixture of vinyl containing organopolysiloxane and filler with hindered phenols, a nitrosamine-free composition and a nitrosamine-free article made therefrom. A preferred nitrosamine-free molded article is a baby bottle nipple.

The compression set of elastomeric silicone compositions, addition cured injection moldable compositions, is reduced by the incorporation of nitrogen compounds wherein the nitrogen possesses at least one organic substituent and the nitrogen is tetravalent wherein the nitrogen is cationic. The adhesion of such compositions to thermoset or thermoplastic polymer substrates is improved by the addition of bis(trimethoxysilylpropyl)fumarate and a disilanol that may or may not contain alkenyl groups. The lubricity of such compositions is improved by the addition of compounds selected from the group consisting of diorganosiloxanes such as polydimethylsiloxanes, phenyl containing siloxanes such as copolymers of diphenylsiloxane with diorganosiloxanes and copolymers of methylphenylsiloxane with diorganosiloxanes, fluorosilicones such as silicones containing trifluoropropyl substituted siloxanes, polydimethylsiloxanes, aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons that are liquid between 0.degree. C. and 100.degree. C. without adversely affecting the adhesion of the composition.
