An optical disk drive is located in a housing having a centrally pivoted door. An optical disk cartridge is inserted into the drive and is received by a sealing member. The cartridge and sealing member divides the interior of the drive into two compartments. The first compartment contains the electronics which need to be cooled and the second compartment contains the optical elements. The door and sealing member allow airflow in the first compartment but prevent it from reaching the second compartment. An airfoil is positioned over the optical elements in the second compartment to protect them from airflow developed by the spinning disk.

The invention is a cleaning cartridge which includes a housing and a tube for injecting a compressed gas therethrough and into specific areas of an optical disk drive. The tube is removably connectable at one end to a compressed gas supply, and is aimed at the other end to direct gas exiting therefrom at both the objective lens, beam-directing prism or mirror, or other internal optical disk drive components when the cartridge is seated in the drive. Upon insertion of the cleaning cartridge into the optical disk drive in the usual manner for any optical disk cartridge, gas is released from the compressed gas source, through the tube, and into the optical disk drive. The use of such a cleaning cartridge provides for easy, effective cleaning of any internal optical disk drive component without the abrasion and potential inconveniences associated with mechanical brushing, wiping, or other techniques.

A process for forming a composite high temperature superconductor copper wire, said process comprising the steps of (1) directing a submicron sized powder of a superconducting ceramic material through a length of copper tubing to coat the interior surface of said tubing with a uniform compact film of said powder, and (2) sintering said powder while passing oxygen through said tube and while maintaining the outside of said tube in an inert atmosphere. In a preferred embodiment an aerosol process is used to generate the submicron sized powder of the superconductor.

Films of these materials can be deposited by solvent casting or by sublimation. The deposited film can be made to produce a positive or negative resist image depending on the E-beam energy and exposure time. Exposure of this material to an E-beam produces patterns having differential electrical, optical and solvation properties.
