A blower includes an impeller housing, an impeller rotatably secured to the housing and an electric motor. The motor has a motor housing with a central portion and a radially extending portion extending from the central portion, a venturi chamber adjacent the motor housing and opposed to the impeller housing, a stator secured to the central portion of the motor housing, a rotor rotatably secured to the central portion of the housing, and at least one heat generating electrical component secured to the radially extending portion of the motor housing. The impeller housing has a first air pressure therein and the motor housing has a second air pressure therein different that the first air pressure. The venturi housing and the motor housing define a passageway therebetween whereby the difference in air pressure generates air flow within the motor housing to cool the at least one heat generating electrical component.

Blower, electric machine and associated method

An electric machine includes an electric machine having a housing defining a cavity in the housing. The housing has an internal wall of the housing defining an aperture extending from an exterior of the housing to the cavity. The machine also includes a stator secured to the housing and a rotor. The rotor is rotatably secured to the housing. The machine also includes a component positionable in the aperture and a sealing member. The sealing member is operably associated with the component. At least a portion of the sealing member is made of a conformable material and adapted for engagement with the housing. The internal wall of the housing is adapted to radially engage the conformable portion of the sealing member.

Electric machine, sealing assembly and associated method

According to an embodiment of the invention, an electric machine is provided. The machine includes a support structure and a stator secured to the support structure. The machine also includes a rotor rotatably scoured to the support structure. The rotor defines a wall of the rotor. The machine also includes a sensor secured to the support structure and adapted to cooperate with the wall of the rotor to sense the position of the rotor relative to that of the stator.

A motor assembly includes an electric motor having a stator and a rotor. A housing is coupled to the electric motor. The housing includes a terminal housing portion defining a first aperture and a second aperture. A power input terminal is disposed within the terminal housing portion. The power input terminal receives power input connections from at least one of the first aperture and the second aperture. A motor controller is disposed within the housing, the motor controller in communication with the power input terminals and the stator. A human machine interface (HMI) is in communication with the motor controller.

Electric motor with multiple power access

A motor assembly includes an electric motor having a stator and a rotor. A housing is coupled to the electric motor. A motor controller is disposed within the housing. A human machine interface (HMI) is selectively detachably coupled to the housing and in communication with the motor controller. The HMI includes a user input for control of the electric motor when the HMI is coupled to the housing and for control of the electric motor when the HMI is separately disposed from the housing.

An electro-dynamic machine including a rotor shaft extending along an axis and a bearing rotatably supporting the rotor shaft for rotation about the axis. An inner housing has an outer surface and defines a bearing bore. The bearing bore receives and supports the bearing. An outer housing surrounds the inner housing. A plurality of non-radial ribs extends from the outer housing to the inner housing. The non-radial ribs are coupled to the inner housing substantially tangential to the outer surface.
