A system for analog gauge monitoring uses a machine learning model for computer vision that is trained using synthetic training data generated based on one or a few images of the gauge being monitored and a geometric model describing the scale and the indicator of the gauge. In some embodiments, the synthetic training data is generated using an image model implemented as a generative adversarial network (GAN) type neural network and trained to modify an image of a given gauge such that the gauge face is preserved while the gauge indicator is added to or removed from the image of the given gauge for any given gauge.

A method for person detection using overhead images includes receiving a depth image captured from an overhead viewpoint at a first location; detecting in the depth image for a target region indicative of a scene object within a height range; determining whether the detected target region has an area within a head size range; if within the head size range, determining whether the detected target region has a roundness value less than a maximum roundness value; if less than the maximum roundness value, classifying the detected target region as a head of a person and masking the classified target region in the depth image, where the masked region is excluded from detecting; and repeating the detecting to the masking to detect for and classify another target region in the depth image within the height range and outside of the masked region.

A system and method for determining an object or product represented in an image is disclosed. The system receives a first image, determines a region of interest in the first image, determines a classification score for the region of interest using a convolutional neural network that assigns the region of interest the classification score corresponding to a class, and identifies a first product in the first image based on the classification score.

Methods and systems for planogram matching are described. The methods include capturing an image, processing the image to identify a product based on a symbolic identifier, receiving a planogram, identifying a region of a planogram based on a linear grouping, determining a geometrically consistent match between the product and a sample product included in the region of the planogram, and determining an alignment between the region of the planogram and a corresponding region of the image that includes the product. The methods may further include determining a location in the corresponding region that does not include an expected product based on the planogram.
