Alkyltin sulfanyl diester thiols

An alkyltin compound of specified formula which has utility as an excellent stabilizer for a halogen-containing resin. The alkyltin compound has from 1-3 terminal thiol groups.

Disclosed herein is a method for improving the physical properties of cellulose fiber-containing material/PVC composites comprising adding to said composites an effective amount of at least one compatibilizer comprising an organometallic zirconium compound. The preferred organometallic zirconium compound is cyclo[dineopentyl(diallyl)]pyrophosphato dineopentyl(diallyl)zirconate. Articles of manufacture comprising such composites are also disclosed.

Compatibilizers for composites of PVC and cellulosic materials

A method is disclosed for stabilizing a halogen-containing polymer wherein the method comprises adding to said polymer a thermally stabilizing amount of a mixture comprising at least one polyalkylene glycol and at least one metal salt of a strong acid selected from the group consisting of perchloric acid, trifluoroacetic acid, trifluoromethanesulfonic acid, alkylsulfuric acid, phosphotungstic acid, HPF, HBF, and HSbF.

Stabilization system for halogen-containing polymers

Metal salts of organic acids complexed with &#x3b2;-diketone compounds are multifunctional complexes useful in the formulation of stabilizers for halogenated resins. These complexes may be used jointly with other low toxicity intermediates, such as zinc or magnesium intermediates, to form effective stabilizers that are non-toxic and exhibit better performance than other known stabilizers, including those containing toxic heavy metals such as cadmium or lead. The complex is prepared utilizing a Claisen condensation reaction and precipitation with water and heptane.
