The present invention provides a process to prepare middle distillates and base oils from a Fischer-Tropsch product, by (a) subjecting the Fischer-Tropsch product to a hydroprocessing step in the presence of a catalyst comprising a molecular sieve with a pore size between 5 and 7 angstrom and a SiO/AlOratio of at least 25, preferably from 50 to 180 and a group VIII metal to obtain a mixture comprising one or more middle distillate fractions and a first residual fraction and a naphtha fraction; (b) separating the mixture as obtained in step (a) by means of atmospheric distillation into one or more middle distillate fractions, a first residual fraction and a naphtha fraction; (c) separating the first residual fraction by means of vacuum distillation into at least a distillate base oil fraction and a second residual fraction.

Process to prepare Fischer-Tropsch derived middle distillates and base oils

The present invention provides a microcrystalline wax having a needle penetration according to ASTM D-1321 at 25° C. of more than 1, a crystallinity according to XRD between 5 and 70%, an initial boiling point of less than 500° C., a congealing point in the range of from 60 to 120° C., an oil content according to ASTM D-721 of more than 2 wt. %, wherein the microcrystalline wax has a fraction up to C40 having at least 5 wt % of multiple methyl-branched paraffins as determined with GC×GC.

The present invention relates to a process for preparing a residual base oil from a hydrocarbon feed which is derived from a Fischer-Tropsch process, the process comprises the steps of: (a) providing a hydrocarbon feed which is derived from a Fischer-Tropsch process; (b) subjecting the hydrocarbon feed of step (a) to a hydrocracking/hydroisomerisation step to obtain an at least partially isomerised product; (c) separating at least part of the at least partially isomerised product as obtained in step (b) into one or more lower boiling fractions and a hydrowax residue fraction; (d) catalytic dewaxing of the hydrowax residue fraction of step (c) to obtain a highly isomerised product; (e) separating the highly isomerised product of step (d) into one or more light fractions and a isomerised residual fraction; (f) mixing of the isomerised residual fraction of step (e) with a diluent to obtain a diluted isomerised residual fraction; (g) cooling the diluted isomerised residual fraction of step (f) to a temperature between 0&#xb0; C. and &#x2212;60&#xb0; C.; (i) subjecting the mixture of step (g) to a centrifuging step at a temperature between 0&#xb0; C. and &#x2212;60&#xb0; C. to isolate the wax from the diluted isomerised residual fraction; (j) separating the diluent from the diluted isomerised residual fraction to obtain a residual base oil.

Process for preparing a base oil having a reduced cloud point

The present invention relates to a method for reducing the cloud point of a Fischer-Tropsch derived fraction to below 0&#xb0; C., wherein the method comprises subjecting the Fischer-Tropsch derived fraction to a cloud point reduction step comprising mixing the Fischer-Tropsch derived fraction, which comprises more than 80 wt. % of paraffins and 90 wt. % of saturates, with a solvent mixture (), wherein the solvent mixture () comprises a paraffinic naphtha fraction () and a co-solvent (); and subjecting the solvent treatment mixture () to a solvent de-waxing step ().

Fischer-tropsch feedstock derived haze-free base oil fractions

The present invention relates to a Fischer-Tropsch derived residual base oil having a kinematic viscosity at 100&#xb0; C. according to ASTM D445 in the range of from 15 to 35 mm/s, an average number of carbon atoms per molecule Fischer-Tropsch derived residual base oil according toC-NMR in a range of from 25 to 50.

Disclosed is a process for the preparation of a faujasite zeolite. A starting zeolite of the faujasite structure having a silica to alumina ratio of from 4.5 to 6.5 and an alkali level of less than 1.5% wt is steam calcined to produce an intermediate zeolite. The intermediate zeolite is treated with an acidified solution having specificately defined characteristics.

Faujasite zeolite preparation process

A process for producing paraffinic hydrocarbons from a feedstock comprising triglycerides, diglycerides, monoglycerides and/or fatty acids, the process comprising the following steps: (a) hydrode oxygenating the triglycerides, diglycerides, monoglycerides and/or fatty acids in the feedstock by contacting hydrogen and the feedstock with a hydrogenation catalyst at a temperature in the range of from 250 to 380&#xb0; C. and a total pressure in the range of from 20 to 160 bar (absolute), to obtain an effluent comprising paraffinic hydrocarbons and water; (b) separating a liquid stream rich in paraffinic hydrocarbons from the effluent obtained in step (a); and (c) hydroisomerising the paraffinic hydrocarbons in the liquid stream rich in paraffinic hydrocarbons by contacting hydrogen and the liquid stream with a hydroprocessing catalyst comprising sulphided Ni and sulphided W or Mo as hydrogenation components on a carrier comprising amorphous silica-alumina and/or a zeolitic compound at a temperature in the range of from 280 to 450&#xb0; C. and a total pressure in the range of from 20 to 160 bar (absolute).

Process for producing paraffinic hydrocarbons

The invention provides a zeolite of the faujasite structure which has a unit cell size in the range of from 24.40 to 24.50 &#x212b;; a bulk silica to alumina ratio (SAR) in the range of from 5 to 10; and an alkali metal content of less than 0.15 wt %. Such zeolites have been found to have a very useful naphtha selectivity in hydrocracking, particularly a selectivity to heavy naphtha. A preparation process for the zeolite, hydrocracking catalyst composition comprising the zeolite and its use in hydrocracking are also provided.

Faujasite zeolite, its preparation and use in hydrocracking

Hydrocracking catalyst composition comprising an optional metal hydrogenation component supported on a carrier comprising a zeolite of the faujasite structure having a unit cell size in the range of from 24.10 to 24.40 &#x212b;, a bulk silica to alumina ratio (SAR) above about 12, and a surface area of at least about 850 m/g as measured by the BET method and ATSM D4365-95 with nitrogen adsorption at a p/po value of 0.03.

Aromatics alkylation

The invention relates to a process for the catalytic dewaxing of a hydrocarbon feed containing waxy molecules by contacting the hydrocarbon feed under catalytic dewaxing conditions with a catalyst composition having metallosilicate crystallites, a binder and a hydrogenation component, wherein the weight ratio of the metallosilicate crystallites and the binder is between 5:95 and 35:65. The invention also relates to a catalyst composition having at least a low acidity refractory oxide binder, which binder is essentially free of aluminum, metallosilicate crystallites and a hydrogenation component, wherein the weight ratio of the metallosilicate crystallites and the binder is between 5:95 and 35:65.
