A system in one embodiment includes at least one cylinder, a supplemental boost supply, and a supply line. The at least one cylinder is configured for use in a reciprocating internal combustion engine, and includes a combustion portion and a crank portion on opposite sides of a piston. The at least one cylinder also includes an intake port and an exhaust port in fluid communication with the combustion portion. The supplemental boost supply is configured to provide a supplemental air supply to the combustion portion of the engine when the engine is idling to increase pressure in the combustion portion. The supply line couples the supplemental boost supply to the intake port.

Systems and methods for reduced oil carryover

A system for reducing emissions in an engine is provided. The system includes a primary fuel tank having a primary fuel. The system also includes a secondary fuel tank having a secondary fuel. The system further includes a separator in fluid communication with the secondary fuel tank or the primary fuel tank or both the secondary fuel tank and the primary fuel tank, the engine and a hydrocarbon-selective catalytic reduction subsystem. The subsystem separator separates a less volatile portion of the secondary fuel or the primary fuel from a more volatile portion, said less volatile portion of the secondary fuel or the primary fuel in the separator is routed to the hydrocarbon-selective catalytic reduction subsystem and said more volatile portion of the secondary fuel or the primary fuel in the separator is routed to the engine.

System and method for reducing mono-nitrogen oxide emissions

Methods and systems are provided for improving a balance between engine fuel economy and exhaust emissions in an off-highway vehicle. One example method includes adjusting an engine injection timing based on an ambient NOx level estimated by a NOx sensor in the engine intake. Another example method includes adjusting a trip plan with a time in notch duty cycle based on a deviation from the time in notch duty cycle from a reference duty cycle.

Method and system for engine emission control

The present invention is a gas turbine engine system containing a compressor stage, a pulse detonation stage, and a turbine stage. During operation of the engine system, compressed flow from the compressor stage is directed to at least one off-axis pulse detonation tube in the pulse detonation stage. The off-axis pulse detonation tube detonates a mixture containing the compressed flow and a fuel to create a detonation wave, which is routed to an inlet portion of a reverse flow turbine. The exhaust flow from the reverse flow turbine is then directed away from the engine through ducting.
