A seat assembly includes a seatback having a back support portion centrally disposed thereon. A retractor mechanism is operably coupled to the seatback. A belt member is coupled to the retractor mechanism. The belt member further includes a body portion disposed between first and second ends of the belt member. The body portion of the belt member is operable between a stowed position and a deployed position. The belt member is disposed in front of the back support portion of the seatback in the deployed position. The belt member is disposed in an interior portion of the seatback in the stowed position. The seat assembly further includes an airbag assembly to which the belt member is attached. The belt member is deployed when the airbag assembly is deployed as coupled thereto.

A vehicle seating assembly having a housing assembly coupled to a seat frame with a transverse member. A cushion pan extends between the transverse member and a cross bar. A cushion nose extends between the transverse member and a front portion of the housing assembly. A gas-generating device is deployable in response to a sudden vehicle deceleration to exert a force on the cushion nose to rotate the cushion nose about an axis defined by a transverse member from a first position to a second position.

Cushion support assembly for vehicle seating assembly

A seat assembly includes a seatback having an interior portion and a seat portion having an interior portion. A belt member includes first and second ends and a deployable portion disposed therebetween. The deployable portion is operable between a stowed position and a deployed position. The deployable portion of the belt member is disposed within the interior portion of the seatback and the interior portion of the seat portion when the deployable portion is in the stowed position. The deployable portion of the belt member is disposed outside of the interior portion of the seatback and outside of the interior portion of the seat portion when the deployable portion is in the deployed position. One or more retractor mechanisms are operably coupled to the belt member and operative to retract a portion of the deployable portion of the belt member after or during deployment.

A seatback assembly includes a seatback frame having first and second side members that define a back support portion of the seatback frame. An upper frame member interconnects the first and second side members of the seatback frame to define a headrest support portion of the seatback frame. An upper mounting plate is coupled to the upper frame member. A retaining bar is coupled to the upper mounting plate. A retractor mechanism is operably coupled the back support portion of the seatback frame. A mounting bracket is operably coupled to the seatback frame. A seatbelt includes a webbing having a first portion which is operably coupled to and extending from the retractor mechanism towards the retaining bar within an interior of the seatback assembly. A second portion of the webbing extends from the retaining bar to the mounting bracket within the interior of the seatback assembly.

A seating assembly for a vehicle comprising: a seat; a seatback including an occupant side configured to contact and support an occupant of the seating assembly, a rear side that faces in the generally opposite direction as the occupant side, and a top portion; seatbelt webbing, the seatbelt webbing extending along the rear side of the seatback; a plurality of emitters of UVC radiation; and an emitter support structure attached to the seatback that supports the plurality of emitters of UVC radiation such that the plurality of emitters of UVC radiation emit UVC radiation onto the seatbelt webbing extending along the rear side of the seatback.

A restraint system includes a webbing-guide shell including a guide portion and a sloping portion, and a member reinforcing the sloping portion. The guide portion includes a slot and an opening from the slot through the guide portion, and the sloping portion includes a top surface sloping downwardly in a vehicle-inboard direction. The material of the member is stronger than the material of the webbing-guide shell.

A vehicle comprising a floor portion; a row of seating; and a first anchor bracket including: a seatbelt webbing attachment portion to which a first seatbelt webbing, configured to secure an occupant to the row of seating, is attached; and a cargo securement attachment portion to which a cargo securement device, configured to secure one or more pieces of cargo above the floor portion adjacent the row of seating, is attached. The vehicle can further include a second anchor bracket including a seatbelt webbing attachment portion to which a second seatbelt webbing, configured to secure an occupant to the row of seating, is attached, and a cargo securement attachment portion to which the cargo securement device is attached. The first anchor bracket and second anchor bracket can be identically shaped and interchangeable during assembly of the vehicle. The first anchor bracket and second anchor bracket can be shaped differently.

A vehicle seat belt system is provided. The vehicle seat belt system includes a seat belt comprising a tubular seat belt webbing defining a passageway and a plurality of pressure control valves and a seat belt buckle for connecting to the seat belt. The seat belt buckle has an air delivery port for delivering air to the passenger, and an air delivery device supplies air to the seat belt, wherein the valves allow the supplied air to exit the seat belt at a first air pressure and block air from exiting at a second pressure.

A seat belt system including a seat belt secured for movement over a D-ring wherein the D-ring includes a magnet and the seat belt includes a plurality of magnetized metal filaments. As the seat belt travels through the D-ring the magnet attracts the plurality of metal filaments and counteracts at least a portion of the normal force of the webbing on the D-ring provided by gravity. The shape or configuration of the magnet may also increase the arc length or radial travel distance about the D-ring to reduce bunching and correspondingly the force necessary to wind and unwind the seat belt.

Seat belt system

An illuminated vehicle seatbelt assembly is provided herein. The vehicle seatbelt assembly includes a buckle having a housing and a latch mechanism. A light source is disposed within the housing. A light guide directs light from the light source to a top portion of the housing. A first photoluminescent structure is disposed within the buckle and is configured to luminesce in response to excitation by the light source.

Illuminated seatbelt assembly

A lighting system for a vehicle seatbelt assembly is provided herein. The lighting system includes a light source disposed on a seatbelt webbing. A first photoluminescent structure is configured to luminesce in response to excitation by at least a portion of the light source. A controller is configured to control an activation state of the light source. In some embodiments, the light source may implement a thin design, thereby helping to fit the light source into small package spaces of the vehicle where traditional light sources may not be practicable.

Seatbelt lighting system

A vehicle system includes a seat belt buckle configured to receive a seat belt. The seat belt buckle is moveable between a first position and a second position. A timer is configured to determine an amount of time that the seat belt buckle is in the second position. If the seat belt buckle is in the second position for longer than a predetermined amount of time, the timer outputs an alert signal representing a potential fault.

A method of assembling an airbag for a seatbelt restraint such that the deflated airbag lays flat when it is stacked and secured to a webbing of the seatbelt. The airbag is assembled from a plurality of material strips. The strips are edge joint welded together so that the joints lay flat between the individual strips comprising the airbag.

Method of assembling and packing an automotive airbag

A self-adjusting seat stiffness system that uses a tension member and tensioning device to maintain or increase tension in a seat component during a perceived vehicle dynamic event. The system may use an inertial latching spool for the tensioning device as an example of a way to maintain tension at a target acceleration of the spool by locking up the tension member, or may have a controller to control the tensioning member to provide variable tensions depending on varying perceived vehicle parameters. The tensioning of the tension member helps to avoid submarining of an occupant under a seatbelt due to unacceptable seat compression during a vehicle dynamic event.

Self-adjusting seat stiffness system

An inflatable member is inflated by compressed gas that flows through the latch and hollow tubular tongue of a seat belt anchor. The inflatable member is retained in an uninflated condition in a split two layer belt. The latch is pivotally secured to a conduit that receives compressed inflation gas from a cylinder that is provided with a diffuser.
