The present invention is directed to a venting closure that reduces the amount of headspace in a container. The venting closure has a patch that changes the location and reduces the size of the vent opening. Accordingly, the vent closure enables a container which has a vent opening to holds more product without having to expand the size of the container.

Venting closure

The present invention is directed to a device for dispensing a unit dose water-soluble pouch containing a laundry additive during the spin cycle of a washing machine process having a spinning wash drum. The device is attached to the vertical center post of a washing machine and holds a water-soluble pouch above the high water level. During the spin cycle, the spinning center post will create sufficient centrifugal force so that the water-soluble pouch is released from the device. The water-soluble pouch will then fall into the laundry where the water-soluble pouch will dissolve when rinse water fills the machine thereby releasing the laundry additive to treat the washed articles.

A container including a fitment having an outer wall and a pour spout. The fitment outer wall includes a first product exit aperture. A bottle finish includes one or more locking surfaces abutting the outer wall of the fitment, and the finish locking surface includes a channel which directs product trapped between the outer wall of the fitment and the inner wall of the finish to the first product exit aperture and then to the exterior of the container or directly to the exterior of the container. This permits egress of residual drops of product from the container. Alternatively, the channel can extend to the top of the finish.

Fitment and bottle

The present invention is directed to a pour spout fitment that has an enlarged spout opening thereby making it less susceptible to double pouring and advantageous for dispensing new flowable product forms such as gels. The pour spout opening is large relative to the bottle opening which is equated with the fitment's circumscribing wall. Accordingly, the pour spout fitment is less susceptible to double pouring and may also be useful for pouring more viscous product forms such as gels.

The invention provides a bottle having at least three layers in which the outer and inner layers contain a metallocene polyethylene polymer and the middle layer comprises virgin high density polyethylene, regrind and post-consumer recycled resin, with the bottle having at least% light transmittance in the visible spectrum.

A new way of shipping cartons and other packages so as to minimize the cost and the resource used. The invention is directed in the first embodiment to a liner, particularly for use in combination with shrink wrap packaging, which includes corners for compressive strength and yet panels having deceased height intermediate such corners. The decreased height panels result in conversation of the resource used to make the liner. In a preferred embodiment, the liners are nestable so that they fit closely one on top of each other in the manufacturing process, therefore conserving space. Moreover, nestability of the liner blanks helps promote conservation of resource particularly when the liner blanks are cut from the same fiberboard blank.

A transparent consumer product, such as an aqueous heavy duty liquid having colorant dye, in a clear bottle, wherein the material of which said bottle is made comprises fluorescent dye to protect the colorant dye. The f-dye may, alternatively or in addition to, be present in a clear label on such bottle.

Dose cup

A container for dispensing a flowable fluid which has a first liquid and a second liquid disposed within a single chamber and which are separated and positioned one above the other. The container includes a bottle base, a bottle body which extends upward from the bottle base to a bottle finish, a fitment having a pouring spout and is arranged on the bottle body at an end opposite the base. The fitment has a first pouring opening from which a first liquid is dispensed and a second opening from which a second liquid is dispensed. A diptube is connected to one of the pouring openings projects downward from toward the bottle base. The diptube conveys the liquid on the bottom to a pouring spout while the liquid on top is conveyed to the pouring spout by the other pouring opening.

Container for dispensing a dual phase fluid product

In an embodiment, a container includes a dispensing opening, a closure and a plurality of walls. At least one of the walls includes a non-uniform surface structured so that the dispensing closure can be disposed on the surface when the container is in its dispensing position. In another preferred embodiment, the top wall of the container includes a vent, a vent cap forming a closure for the vent, a handle, a pouring aperture and a pouring closure covering the pouring aperture. The top surfaces of the vent cap, the handle and the pouring closure are generally parallel, and the heights of the top surfaces of the vent cap and the pouring closure are within an inch of the height of the top surface of the handle. In another preferred embodiment, the top wall of the container includes a handle extending from a handle base within the top wall. A pouring aperture is surrounded by a pouring aperture base which also extends from the top wall. In accordance with this preferred aspect of the invention, the pouring aperture base is isolated from the interior handle base by the handle base exterior.

Container

A package with a label, wherein the material of which the label, label adhesive and/or top coating is made comprises UV absorbers to protect the product's colorant dye and other organic compounds. The package may contain translucent or transparent consumer product, such as an aqueous heavy duty liquid having colorant dye. The package may itself be transparent or translucent.

A new pouch for laundry products and the combination of pouch and laundry product. The pouch includes a tearing notch or a length of weakness, which may comprise a tear tape, permitting manual opening of the pouch prior to tossing the pouch into the washing machine. By tearing open the pouch it is possible to direct liquid or gelled detergent onto clothes for pretreating stains. The remainder of the product, in a second chamber, e.g. liquid, gel or solid, eg, a powder, is retained in the pouch until release during wash. In this respect, it is preferred that at least part of the pouch is a water soluble film to promote release of product during washing in the washing machine and to minimize residue left from the pouch at the conclusion of the wash. The pouch of the invention preferably comprises at least two chambers, one of the chambers being openable by manual tearing along a tearing notch or a line of weakness. In accordance with another embodiment of the invention, a pouch with one or more chambers is provided which narrows to a nozzle for dispensing of product.

Laundry product

A carton having a lid lock comprising a lip or flap extending from a liner and a debossment, embossment or opening in a panel forming the cover. The debossment, embossment or opening receives and/or limits the motion of the lip to lock closed the cover.

Lip-lock carton for powders

A dispenser for laundry products, particularly for fabric softener products to be used in the dryer. The dispenser comprises a hollow ball having a plurality of product dispensing openings and a further product ingress opening for placing product in the ball. A measuring cup to hold product is accessed from the product ingress opening. In accordance with one preferred embodiment, the measuring cup includes only a single opening in its side wall for releasing product from the cup and into the hollow sphere. One or more closures are associated with the dispenser. After travelling through the small hole in the cup, the product is dispensed to the exterior of the hollow ball through the product dispensing openings and thus onto product. The hollow ball is preferably a manually squeezable plastic such as polyurethane. In another embodiment, the cup includes more than the single hole in the cup walls. In a further embodiment, the cup may include a single hole or a plurality of holes and the hollow ball has associated therewith fabric on the outside surface to assist in evenly dispensing product. In an alternative embodiment, the cup includes a single hole or a plurality of holes and the outside of the hollow ball includes a plurality of wells to assist in dispensing of product. In accordance with a still further embodiment of the invention, the dispenser includes a duck bill valve sealingly mounted within the measuring cup. Product can be pumped into the dispenser through the duck bill valve, in which case, the closure may be omitted if desired. In accordance with yet another embodiment of the invention, the area of the closure on the hollow ball is recessed and is protected by a ridge of plastic formed in the hollow ball.
