An apparatus has a housing adapted to be secured to a window sash. A cam rotatably mounted in the housing has a cam surface and a cam boss disposed opposite the cam surface. A drive disc rotatably mounted proximate the cam has a disc boss and a projection disposed opposite the disc boss. The cam boss and disc boss are selectively engageable when the cam is rotated.

Combination window sash lock and tilt mechanism

An integrated lock and latch device for use in sliding sash windows includes a lock assembly including a sweep cam that has a pinion portion adjacent and extending downwardly from it. The pinion portion presents gear teeth extending outwardly. A tilt latch assembly including a sliding bolt is biased toward an extended position where a terminal portion of the sliding bolt extends outwardly. The sliding bolt has at least one track portion. The sweep cam is rotatably shiftable between a locked position where the sweep cam is engaged to the keeper, an intermediate unlocked position where the sweep cam is disengaged from the keeper and a tilt position where the sweep cam is disengaged from the keeper and the first gear teeth are engaged to the second gear teeth and the sliding bolt is withdrawn inwardly from the extended position.

Integrated lock and latch device for sliding windows

A low-cost combination tilt-lock-latch mechanism for a sliding window that combines ease of installation and adjustment with simplicity of use. The mechanism includes at least one tilt-latch mechanism adapted for mounting in the window sash. The tilt-latch mechanism includes a housing and a plunger having a latch bolt portion retractable within the housing. A plunger latch member automatically latches the plunger in a retracted position to enable tilting of the sash. Further, the mechanism may include an actuator mechanism and a flexible linking member. The tilt-latch may include a locking member adjustable from outside the housing of the tilt latch, to lock the flexible linking member to the plunger, thereby operably coupling the actuator mechanism with the tilt-latch.

Integrated lock and tilt-latch mechanism for a sliding window

An improved window sash lock keeper is provided having a slot to provide clearance for a burr, which is typically found on a surface upon which such a sash lock keeper is mounted. The improved keeper is typically mounted flush to a surface of an extruded window component. The clearance slot allows the keeper to be mounted with improved precision and thereby reduces interferences caused by misaligned window hardware.

Window sash lock keeper

A lockable sash assembly for installation on a window assembly is provided. The window assembly includes sashes movable relative to each other to open and close the window assembly when the lockable sash assembly is in a window-openable condition and substantially unmovable relative to each other when the lockable sash assembly is in a window-unopenable condition. The sash assembly includes a sashlock having a rotating device (such as a lever-controlled cam) which is movable between a window-openable position and a window-unopenable position. The sash assembly also includes a locking device which is convertible between a locked state whereat the rotating device is blocked from moving from the window-unopenable position to the window-openable position and an unlocked state whereat the rotating device is unblocked from moving from the window-unopenable position to the window-openable position.

Lockable sash assembly

The sash lock has a rotatable cam which engages the keeper. The sash lock has a slide plate mounted below the cam and the slide plate moves between a retracted position in which its leading edge is flush with the sash to which the lock is mounted. In an extended position in which the leading edge of the plate extends far enough to block the narrow gap between the sashes. The slide plate is mounted for movement perpendicular to the edge of the sash and parallel to the plane of the top surface of the sash. The slide plate includes an arcuate recess in one side of the plate which is engaged by a pin extending from the rotatable cam. The recess in the slide plate is contoured so that during initial portion of the movement of the cam from its open position toward its locked position, the slide plate does not move. After the cam has moved far enough to engage the keeper, the slide plate moves outward toward the sash to which the keeper is mounted so as to block the gap between the two sashes in the region of the cam. It reduces the chances of a sash lock being forced open.

Pick resistant sash lock and keeper and method of locking sashes

A pivotable window sash assembly includes a pivot bar which engages a balance shoe for holding the sash to a master frame. The shoe has a recess in which a locking member is rotatably mounted. The locking member includes an exposed keyway which is selectively aligned with at least one slot in the shoe located at the recess. The pivot bar has an arm which functions as a key for fitting in the keyway and has at least one projection extending outwardly from the arm for fitting in each slot when the slot and keyway are aligned. The pivot bar has a locking member which snaps into a hole in the sash.

Pivotable window sash assembly

A single point lock or cam lock for a casement window is provided. The lock includes an escutcheon providing a low profile and a smooth uninterrupted surface which faces the inside of the room. The handle includes two opposing legs that enter the escutcheon for attachment to the hook through opposing side walls of the escutcheon. A shaft provides the connection between the hook and the handle which rotates on two brace structures provided by the frame. The frame is sandwiched between the escutcheon and the inside surface of the window frame. The design of the escutcheon, the shaft and the braces of the frame provide for an effective seal against the inside surface of the window frame.

Single point lock operator

An operator for a multi-point locking system for a casement window is provided. The operator includes a handle having two opposing legs that pass through side walls in the escutcheon thereby leaving the outer wall of the escutcheon intact. Due to a delay between movement of the handle and the first link which indirectly imparts movement of the handle to the tie bar, the handle can be rotated a full 180.degree. between the open and the closed positions while the first link is rotated through an angle of less than 180.degree.. As a result, the handle lies in a flat position with respect to the inside window frame surface in both the open and closed positions. Because of the handle design which employs two opposing legs disposed on opposite sides of the escutcheon, the operator can be used both on the right side and the left side of a window frame. The legs of the handle include inwardly extending shafts which are accommodated and supported by braces disposed on opposing sides of the base. The shafts of the legs of the handle engage the braces and arches disposed on the slots the sidewalls of the housing through which the shafts pass to provide a series of tongue-in-groove relationships which provide structural stability to the connection between the legs and the escutcheon and an effective seal between the handle, escutcheon and base of the operator.

Sash lock and keeper assembly

A snap in latch assembly for selectively locking a movable member to a fixed member and preferably for locking double hung windows includes a keeper which would be secured to the hollow rail forming the frame of the fixed sash. A latch housing would be secured to the hollow rail forming the frame of the movable sash. Both the keeper and latch housing are secured to their respective rails in a snap in manner without the use of fasteners such as rivets or screws. The keeper includes at least one retainer pin having an undercut for snapping into a slot in its rail and includes at least one anchor member for engagement with the rail when the keeper is slid to its mounted position. The latch housing includes at least one retainer arm having an undercut for snapping into a slot in its rail with at least one locator bar engaging the rail when the housing is slid to its mounting position.
