An evaporative emissions control system comprising an evaporative emissions control (evap) canister. A fuel vapor feed conduit includes a first end fluidically connected to the evap canister, a second end connected to an internal combustion (IC) engine and a purge valve fluidically connected thereto. A fuel vapor conduit includes a first end fluidically connected to the evap canister and a second end configured to extend into a vehicle fuel tank. A fuel vapor vent valve is fluidically connected to the fuel vapor conduit at the second end thereof. A vapor return system includes a fuel pump fluidically connected to the fuel vapor conduit through an intermediate bypass conduit having a first end fluidically connected to an intermediate portion of the fuel vapor conduit and a second end extending into the vehicle fuel tank and in communication with the vapor return system.

Evaporative emissions control system

A fuel system for a motor vehicle includes a fuel pump having a first pump outlet connectable to an engine fuel inlet and a second pump outlet, a fuel pump module including an internal volume, a fuel pump module outlet is arranged in the internal volume fluidically connected to the second pump outlet, and a fuel valve is fluidically connected to the second pump outlet. The fuel valve is operable to fluidically isolate the fuel pump from the fuel pump module when fuel in the internal volume reaches a selected fuel level.

Fuel system for a motor vehicle

A fuel storage assembly includes a power source, a first tank, a fuel pump, an electric relay, a second tank, and a shut-off device. The fuel pump is adapted to remove fuel from the first tank. The electric relay is electrically connected between the power source and the fuel pump for terminating electric power to the fuel pump. The second tank is adapted to receive the fuel removed from the first tank. The shut-off device is located in the second tank and is electrically connected to the electric relay, and is configured to detect a shut-off level of fuel in the second tank. Upon detection of the shut-off level, the shut-off device effects shut-down of the fuel pump via the electric relay.

Fuel storage assembly

An evaporative emissions control system includes an evaporative emissions control canister, a first fuel vapor return conduit including a first end fluidically connected the evaporative emissions control canister and a second end connectable to an internal combustion (IC) engine. A first valve is fluidically connected to the first fuel vapor return conduit. A second fuel vapor return conduit includes a first end portion fluidically connected to the first fuel vapor return conduit and a second end portion configured to be arranged in a vehicle fuel tank. A second valve is fluidically connected to the second fuel vapor return conduit at the second end portion in the vehicle fuel tank. A vapor return system includes a pump fluidically connected to the second valve in the vehicle fuel tank.

Evaporative emissions control canister purge system

A fuel system includes a cooling fuel supply line that conveys a flow of cooling fuel from a storage tank to a mixing device. An upstream fuel return line conveys a flow of heated fuel to the mixing device from an internal combustion engine. The flow of the heated fuel from the upstream fuel return line mixes with the flow of cooling fuel from the cooling fuel supply line in the mixing device to form a flow of mixed fuel. A downstream fuel return line conveys the flow of mixed fuel from the mixing device to the storage tank. The mixing device includes a flow restrictor operable to generate a low pressure zone relative to a fluid pressure of the flow of cooling fuel in the cooling fuel return line that draws the flow of the cooling fuel through the cooling fuel supply line and into the mixing device.

Fuel cooling system

A method of progressive hydro-forming of a tubular member includes the steps of positioning a tubular member between open die halves mating with one another to define a first tubular cavity portion in a first stage. The method also includes the steps of progressively closing the die halves and applying hydraulic pressure to expand and conform the tubular member to the first tubular cavity portion in the first stage. The method includes the steps of positioning the expanded tubular member in a second tubular cavity portion in a second stage and progressively closing the die halves to progressively deform the expanded tubular member within the second tubular cavity portion. The method includes the steps of applying hydraulic pressure to expand and conform the expanded tubular member to the second tubular cavity portion in the second stage.

Method of progressive hydro-forming of tubular members

A mounting system for a heat exchanger includes an isolator fabricated of a nitrile rubber material to dampen vibrations. The isolator includes a body portion and a pair of legs. The body portion includes a pair of openings sized to receive a vehicle hood latch support. The legs include contoured inner surfaces and are sized to straddle the top surface of the heat exchanger. A vehicle hood latch support assembly is frictionally attached within the isolator body portion openings. As the vehicle is initially assembled, the isolator legs straddle the heat exchanger to secure the heat exchanger to the vehicle.

Methods and apparatus for mounting a heat exchanger to a vehicle

A fuel supply system for an automotive vehicle having an internal combustion engine, comprises a fluid inlet line configured to receive fuel from a vehicle refueling station. A manifolded Y-connector includes an inlet port at an upper end of the Y-connector and in fluid communication with the fluid inlet line, an elliptical lower wall, a manifolded section extending from the inlet port to the elliptical lower wall, and a first and a second outlet port having substantially equal circular cross sections and each having a straight portion extending perpendicularly from the lower wall. A height of the manifolded section from the upper end to the lower wall is approximately four to five times a diameter of one of the outlet ports. The supply system further includes first and second fuel tanks fluidly connected to the first and second outlet ports of the manifolded Y-connector. Whereupon filling the fuel supply system, the manifolded Y-connector operates to deliver fuel to the first fuel tank first and to the second fuel tank second and accommodates any filling turbulence.
