An apparatus and a method for sealing a puncture in a tubular tissue structure or the wall of a body cavity are provided. The apparatus and method include a bioabsorbable member that is partially external to and partially internal to an introducer sheath before and during placement thereof.

Method and apparatus for sealing access

A needle assemblycompromising an infusion needlethat includes a needle cannulamade of a superelastic material such as Nitinol. The needle cannula is cold-worked or heat annealed to produce a preformed bendthat can be straightened within passagewayof a coaxial outer cannulafor introduction into the body of a patient. Upon deployment from the outer cannula, the needle cannula substantially returns to the preformed configuration for the introduction or extraction of materials at areas lateral to the entry path of the needle assembly. The needle assembly can compromise a plurality of needle cannulae than can be variably arranged or configured for attaining a desired infusion pattern.

Hollow curved superelastic medical needle and method

The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for sealing a puncture in a tubular tissue structure or the wall of a body cavity. More specifically, the present invention is directed to an apparatus and method for sealing a puncture site in the wall of a tubular tissue structure, or in the wall of a body cavity with submucosal tissue or another extracellular or matrix-derived tissue capable of remodeling endogenous connective tissue in vivo. The submucosal tissue or another extracellular matrix-derived tissue is inserted into the puncture site as a sheet on an introducer element such as a needle, a cannula, a guide wire, an introducer element adapted for dialysis, an introducer element adapted for catheterization, a trocar, or any other introducer element used to access the lumen of a tubular tissue structure or used to access a body cavity.

Multi-directional needle medical device

A preformed anchoring wire guide (,) for medical procedures such as renal angioplasty. The wire guide (,) is comprised of a superelastic memory alloy mandril (,), such as a nickel-titanium alloy, and includes a preformed bend (,) having an angle (,) with respect to the longitudinal axis (,) that corresponds with the takeoff angle of the renal artery (,) relative to the aorta (,). This preformed bend (,) allows easier access to the ostium (,) of the renal artery (,) and allows the distal portion (,) of the wire guide to anchor within the artery (,) and resist dislodgement and deformation, thereby improving trackability of a balloon angioplasty catheter (,), reducing the need for a guiding catheter, and reducing the likelihood of vessel damage or thrombus shear due to forces that are normally exerted against the wall of the vessel (,) by a standard wire guide. The wire guide has a tapered distal portion (,) over which a spring coil wire (,) is attached to provide radiopacity and safety to the vasculature. The distal portion (,) of the wire guide is flexible and is further made atraumatic by the addition of a hook-shaped or &ldquo;J&rdquo; tip (,). Additionally, the nickel-titanium alloy mandril is cold-worked in its austenitic phase at preformed bend (,) by overstressing the wire in a fixture, thereby shifting at least part of the crystalline structure to martensite within the region of the preformed bend (,).
