A spring element for a contact force sensing medical catheter. The spring element includes a first ring, a second ring spaced apart from the first ring, a plurality of struts connecting the first ring to the second ring, and a plurality of interlocking features. The second ring and the first ring are coaxially aligned with a longitudinal axis of the spring element. The plurality of struts is configured to permit elastic, relative axial and radial displacement between the first ring and the second ring. The plurality of interlocking features is configured to limit the relative axial and radial displacement between the first ring and the second ring.

Catheter and spring element for contact force sensing

An electrode for cardiac signal sensing includes an intermediate layer, an iridium-containing layer, an iridium oxide layer, an insulating polymer layer, and a conductive layer formed on a flexible polymer substrate. The intermediate metal layer has a first portion and a second portion, and is formed on the conductive layer. The iridium-containing layer includes at least 50 wt. % iridium and has a first portion and a second portion, and is formed on the first portion of the intermediate metal layer. The iridium oxide layer is formed on the first portion of the iridium-containing layer. The insulating polymer layer is formed on the second portion of the intermediate metal layer and the second portion of the iridium-containing layer. The iridium-containing layer is not formed on the second portion of the intermediate metal layer; and the iridium oxide layer is not formed on the second portion of the iridium-containing layer.

Flexible electrode for cardiac sensing and method for making

A feedthrough assembly is disposable in an aperture of, for example, a power source encasement. In various examples, the feedthrough assembly comprises a ferrule, an insulator, a terminal conductor, and a sleeve. A portion of the terminal conductor extends through the ferrule thereby creating a portion internal to and a portion external to the encasement. The insulator is disposed within the ferrule and is sealably engaged with the terminal conductor portion extending through the ferrule. The sleeve is disposed over the internal portion of the terminal conductor and coupled thereto. In one example, the sleeve includes at least one notch on a sleeve first end or a sleeve second end, which may be used to weld or solder the sleeve to the terminal conductor. In another example, the sleeve includes a longitudinally extending void, which may be used to crimp the sleeve to the terminal conductor.
