Methods, devices, and systems for operating a fire system network are described herein. One method includes receiving a plurality of time-slotted maintenance messages over a period of time from each of a plurality of fire system devices located in a facility via a first spreading factor, receiving an event message from a fire system device of the plurality of fire system devices responsive to the fire system device determining a fire event, the event message sent via a second spreading factor, and sending a block actuate message to the plurality of fire system devices responsive to receiving the event message, wherein the block actuate message is configured to activate a fire alarm.

Systems and methods for delaying or activating a blowout device in a sampling pipe network of an aspirated smoke detection system are provided. Some systems can include an aspirated smoke detector, a sampling pipe coupled to the aspirated smoke detector, a blowout device coupled to the sampling pipe, and a delay device coupled to the blowout device. Responsive to the aspirated smoke detector detecting a triggering event, the delay device can delay the blowout device from performing a blowout action in the sampling pipe or can instruct the blowout device to perform the blowout action in the sampling pipe.

A method of operating an aspirated smoke detector includes providing an ambient condition detector, establishing a first flow baseline for the detector, establishing a second, lower, flow baseline for the detector, sampling a selected airflow, and determining if the slected airflow as sampled should be compared to the first flow baseline or the second, lower, flow baseline, and responsive thereto, determining if a trouble indictor should be generated.

System and method for optimizing battery life in wireless multi-hop communication systems

A sensor assembly includes a sensor configured to detect at least one material or condition, such as a smoke detector, fire detector, or carbon monoxide detector. The sensor assembly also includes a base configured to be mounted on a structure, such as a wall or ceiling, and to receive the sensor. The sensor assembly further includes a wireless module located between the sensor and the base. The wireless module is configured to transmit position information. The wireless module may include one or more electrical contacts used to form at least one electrical connection between the base of the sensor assembly and the sensor. The wireless module may also include a printed circuit board having the contacts, wireless radio circuitry, an antenna, and other components. The printed circuit board could be substantially hidden from view when the sensor is attached to the base and the base is mounted on the structure.

Apparatus and method for wireless location sensing

The members of a multi-processor communication system can be loaded with a common set of control programs. Subsequently, the functionality of the various processors can be specified by providing linking information to the respective processors. The linking information specifies which control programs, in which order, are to be executed by a respective processor. Processors can be associated with or bound to a respective system using encrypted control codes. The functional integrity of one or more modules at a respective processor can be verified.
