A windshield system securable on a boat deck includes a bottom trim securable directly onto the boat deck, a top trim, and a vertical trim connected between the bottom trim and the top trim. A glass panel is secured to the bottom trim, the top trim and the vertical trim solely with an adhesive. The trim profiles significantly reduce processing and assembly work. The system is also intended to be fully bonded together without the use of mechanical fasteners.

Bonded windshield system

A sliding door assembly includes a door frame with a top trim member, a bottom sill, and side jambs connected between the top trim member and the bottom sill, and a primary sliding panel secured in the door frame. The top trim member includes a track configured to support a weight of the primary sliding panel and prevent the primary sliding panel from coming off the track. Other features include an interlock mechanism to limit relative movement using multiple sliding doors and a brake mechanism to secure the doors in position when the door handle is released. A drop window includes features to accommodate for manufacturing tolerances and box frame assemblies that are out of square.

A boat windshield with a walk-through door includes a fixed panel framework attachable to a boat and a sliding door panel coupled to and cooperable with the fixed panel framework. The sliding door panel is displaceable between an open position and a closed position. The sliding door panel is provided with top and bottom traveler cars mounted for displacement on tracks secured to the fixed panel framework frame. A roller post may be positioned adjacent a bottom edge of the fixed panel framework that supports the sliding door panel during displacement between the open and closed positions.

A release mechanism for selectively connecting and disconnecting a sliding power window from a movable drive block includes a release knob and a release bracket coupled with the release knob by a cable or rod. The release bracket is pivotable between a locked position and a released position by displacement of the release knob. The release bracket includes a drive block pin engageable with the movable drive block and a locking block pin engageable with a fixed locking block. The mechanism allows a boat operator to operate a sliding roof/window manually in case of power failure or the like. The mechanism enables the window to be locked in the opened or closed position, and no tools are required to release the drive or to position/lock the sliding roof/window.

Sliding roof window

A sliding window assembly includes a window frame and a window cooperable with the window frame and displaceable on the window frame between an open position and a closed position. Operating components of the assembly include a counterbalance connected between the window frame and the window and an optional motor that drives a cable connected to the window. The counterbalance is biased to assist the motor in displacing the window relative to the window frame toward the open position.

Windshield sliding door/window assembly

A releasable fastener assembly is affixable through a panel having a front side and a back side and a mounting hole therethrough. The releasable fastener assembly includes a mounting button attachable to the panel back side, the mounting button having a button shaft sized to fit into the mounting hole and a button head with a diameter larger than the mounting hole. A seal may be fit between the mounting button and the panel back side. One part of a releasable fastener is attachable to the panel front side and has an aperture therein in alignment with the mounting hole. A fixing member secures the one part and the mounting button to each other through the panel.

A multi-panel door assembly is arrangeable into multiple configurations. The multi-panel door assembly includes at least three panel positions, including a first side position, a second side position, and a center position between the first and second side positions, and a corresponding at least three door panels. A fixed door panel is fixed in the first side position, and a secondary door panel is displaceable between the first side position and the second side position. A swinging door jamb is selectively displaceable between an engaged position where the primary door panel is displaceable between the center position and the second side position, and a disengaged position, where the primary door panel is displaceable between the first side position and the second side position.

Double acting patio door

A joint system enables pivotable coupling between a first frame member and a second frame member. The joint system includes a mounting ball assembly affixable to the first frame member, and a connector engageable with the mounting ball assembly at one end and affixable to the second frame at an opposite end. The connector is constructed such that it is movable on the mounting ball assembly in a folding plane and through a clearance amount in a clearance plane substantially perpendicular to the folding plane. A continuous passage is defined through the mounting ball assembly and the connector.

Joint system

A windshield assembly includes a windshield frame constructed to support a windshield. A plurality of couplers are secured to the windshield frame, and a tower frame for a wakeboard tow rope or cable attachment, radar arch or the like is connected to the windshield frame via the couplers. In one arrangement, the couplers are connected to the wing sections of the windshield frame, and the tower frame extends between the wing sections and above an area defined between the wing sections. The integrated tower frame and windshield simplifies installation for the boat manufacturer while accommodating many varieties of tower and windshield configurations.

A three-piece hinge supports a two-panel window assembly in a frame. The hinge includes a base member securable to the frame, a first pivot member pivotably coupled with the base member at a first pivot joint, and a second pivot member pivotably coupled with the base member at a second pivot joint spaced from the first pivot joint. The first and second pivot members each have a glass channel for supporting a panel of the two-panel window assembly. In one arrangement, an insert is secured in a pivoting path of the second pivot member to thereby limit a pivot range of the second pivot member. The hinge eliminates the significant machining time required for prior hinge designs, thereby resulting in a simpler less expensive hinge.

Three-piece hinge

A multi-piece bottom trim member secures a curved sheet element such as a boat windshield on a surface such as a boat hull. The trim member includes a base member securable to the surface and including a supporting leg, and an upper member including a base member receiving channel that is shaped to receive the supporting leg of the base member. The upper member is positionable relative to the base member to accommodate varying angles of the curved sheet.

Flush glazed bottom trim

A bottom trim member attaches a curved sheet to a surface. The bottom trim member includes a connecting part having a sheet receiving component that is configured to receive a bottom portion of the curved sheet, and a connecting leg extending in a downward direction relative to the curved sheet. A seal and cover member is attachable between the connecting leg and the surface and surrounding the connecting leg. With this construction, the seal and cover member serves to provide a moisture seal between the bottom trim member and the surface on which the trim member is mounted and serves to cover an area through which a fastening member can be placed to fix the trim member to the surface.

Integrated screw cover/seal bottom trim

A support bar assembly for a pivot member pivotably supported by a frame serves to substantially fix the pivot member relative to the frame in an open position. The assembly includes a support arm body securable at an end to the frame. A rack arm is securable to the pivot member and is slidably mounted in the support arm body between a closed position and an open position. A cam lock affixed to the support arm body is movable between at least a release position, in which the rack arm is freely slidable in the support arm body, and a lock position, in which the rack arm is substantially fixed in the support arm body.
