A non-degradable topical ocular drug delivery device includes about 0.001% to about 10% w/w of at least one myopia-suppressing agent complexed with an immobile acid within a crosslinked polymer matrix. The cross-linked polymer matrix is configured to deliver the least one myopia-suppressing agent over an extended period of time at a concentration and rate that controls myopia progression while preserving pupillary function and accommodation.

The material is useful for providing low weight contour conforming resilient padding for garments, athletic equipment, prosthetic devices, surgical or vehicular cushions, positioning devices, mattresses impact protective padding and the like.

The present invention is based on the unexpected finding that the combination of a carboxylate containing anionic polymer, of molecular weight greater than about 1000 daltons, with cleaning agents, provides improved contact lens cleaning preparations. The present invention includes contacting a soiled contact lens with an aqueous solution comprising an anionically charged polymer and a surfactant or surfactant combination selected from the classes of nonionic surfactants, anionic surfactants, and amphoteric surfactants.

Contact lens cleaning solution

Aqueous ophthalmic preparations are provided and are intended to be instilled into the eye, or in which to pre soak or store an object to be inserted into the eye, such as a contact lens, an ointment, or a solid device to be inserted into the conjunctival sac. The preparations disclosed are utilized for the treatment of a tear film and ocular surface disorder known as keratoconjunctivitis sicca or dry eye syndrome. In general, the preparations of this invention are also effective for the relief of symptoms of eye irritation, such as those caused by dry environmental conditions or by contact lens wear. In accordance with the present invention, the ophthalmic preparation includes a mucin component, similar to that found at the normal human ocular surface and in one exemplary and preferred embodiment, the mucin is a transmembrane or surface mucin.

Mucin containing ophthalmic preparation

The present invention discloses the ophthalmic applications of mucin derived from mammalian milk or milk byproducts. This mucin has been found to be a MUC1 type mucin similar to the transmembrane mucin expressed on the surface of the human eye. The mucin-containing preparations described in this invention can be in the form of an aqueous formulation to be instilled into the eye, or in which to pre-soak or store an object to be inserted into the eye, such as a contact lens, an ointment, or a solid device to be inserted into the conjunctival sac. The preparations disclosed are utilized for the treatment of tear film and ocular surface disorders associated with the signs and symptoms of dry eye. Furthermore, mucin-based formulations are also effective for the relief of symptoms of eye irritation, such as those caused by environmental conditions or by contact lens wear.

Mucin containing ophthalmic preparations

There are disclosed compositions and methods for treating the surface of the eye, or contact tenses to be placed on the eye, with an aqueous composition comprising a quaternary nitrogen-containing ethoxylated glycoside and a therapeutic agent. The subject invention is particularly suited for use with silicone-containing contact lenses. Examples of specific compositions include aqueous solutions of lauryl methyl gluceth-10 hydroxypropyl-dimonium chloride in combination with anionic polysaccharides such as hyaluronic acid.

Ophthalmic composition including a cationic glycoside and an anionic therapeutic agent

The present invention is directed to an ophthalmic solution for the treatment of contact lenses while worn in the eye. In particular, the composition contains ethoxylated glucose derivative, tyloxapol, and a polyoxyethylene-polyoxypropylene nonionic surfactant. The ophthalmic solution containing such a combination of components can be applied, in the form of drops, to the eye or to contact lens in the eye. In one embodiment of the invention, the composition is used for reducing unwanted lipid or protein deposition on extended-wear lenses, including lenses made from relatively hydrophobic materials such as silicon hydrogels.

Method and composition for rewetting and preventing deposits on contact

There are disclosed compositions and methods for cleaning contact lenses using water soluble enzyme-polymer conjugates. A preferred method includes providing the subject enzyme-polymer conjugates in a tablet form, dissolving the tablet in an aqueous solution and subsequently soaking a contact lens in the resulting solution. Other methods include providing the enzyme-polymer conjugate in a liquid form and contacting a contact lens therewith.

Use of water soluble enzyme-polymer conjugates for cleaning contact

Ophthalmic solutions include a material composed of (a) a hydrophobic core having at least three carbon atoms and (b) at least three hydrophilic polyethylene oxide chains attached to the core. Examples of such materials include ethoxylated derivatives of glucose, glycerin, sorbitol, and divinyl benzene.

Composition for wetting contact lenses

A composition for cleaning and wetting contact lenses comprising a non-amine polyethylenoxide-containing copolymeric material having a hydrophilic-lipophile balance (HLB) of at least about 18, a surface active agent having cleaning activity for contact lens deposits and having HLB values of less than 18, and a wetting agent. Preferred embodiments of the present invention include those having from about 0.001 to about 10 weight percent of a non-amine polyethyleneoxy-containing materials, particularly those selected from: ethoxylated glucose derivatives, ethoxylated ethers of sorbitol, copolymers comprising ethyleneoxy and propyleneoxy monomeric units, and mixtures thereof. Preferred embodiments further include from about 0.001 to about 5 weight percent of the surface active agent and from about 0.1 to about 10 weight percent of a wetting agent selected from: cellulosic materials, silicone polymers containing an alkyleneoxide side chain, polyvinyl alcohols, polyvinyl pyrrolidones, and mixtures thereof.
