An improved prismatic polygonal reflector with increased aerodynamic properties and reduced scattering of reflected light is provided. The reflector may be used for scanning, and may include a first end, a second end, a plurality of side surfaces located circumferentially about a center axis of the reflector, and a plurality of intersections joining the plurality of side surfaces. Each of the plurality of intersections includes a curved or a flat portion and a pointed portion aligned circumferentially with other pointed portions on the plurality of intersections to provide a circumference around the reflector for light to reflect and form a scanning beam without light scattering. A system and method for scanning with the reflector is also provided.

A scanning system has a collimated light source and a movable reflective surface. The surface receives light from the light source, reflects the received light to a target surface, receives light reflected from the target surface, and reflects this light to a detector. An aperture disposed between the reflective surface and the target surface has a non-transmissive portion with a width in a direction perpendicular to the laser scan direction that varies over the scan direction.

Scanning system

A system for scanning objects having at least two linear array sensors, adapted to detect light input signals, is provided. A lens is optically connected to each of the linear array sensors, and are adapted to receive and transmit an optical image located in a respective lens field of view along a respective lens axis to the respective one of the at least two linear array sensor. A light source which generates an illumination stripe in general linear alignment with the lens axis across a depth of the field of view is provided. A cylindrical lens is positioned between the light source and an object to be scanned. The cylindrical lens adapted to collect, transmit and focus light from the light source to form the illumination stripe. This arrangement provides a wider system field of view with generally more uniform resolution.

A method for processing scanned code data, including a plurality of strings, to determine whether the scanned code data is part of a valid code begins by examining a first string of a first scanned code data. A cluster is opened with the first string if the first string contains a start pattern. At least one valid middle portion of the first string is identified and a transition position count associated with the at least one valid middle portion is stored. A second scanned code data is searched for a second string matching at least part of the first string in the cluster. If a match is found, then the second string is added to the end of the cluster. The cluster is closed upon detection of a stop pattern and is then decoded.
