A sound absorbing mat comprising a first polyurethane open cell polyester layer, wherein the first polyurethane open cell polyester layer is at least one quarter of an inch thick, a polyvinyl chloride layer having a top surface and a bottom surface, wherein the polyvinyl chloride layer is at least a quarter inch thick and the bottom surface is fused to the first polyurethane open cell polyester, a second polyurethane open cell polyester layer having a top surface and a bottom surface, wherein the second polyurethane open cell polyester layer is at least three quarters of an inch and the bottom surface of the second polyurethane open cell polyester layer is fused with the top surface of the polyvinyl chloride layer, and a urethane layer, wherein the urethane layer is at least a quarter inch thick and is mated to the top surface of the second polyurethane open cell polyester layer.

Device for absorbing sound within the cabin of vehicle

A protective apparatus intended to be applied to an exterior portion of a vehicle, including a method for such application. The invention is a series of sheets or panels affixed to previously-determined places along the front nose of a vehicle to protect the paint and finish located at such areas. Specifically, the sheets are constructed of a polyvinyl chloride material in the preferred mode, and may be designed to be placed beneath a halter or 'bra' cover of a vehicle, so as to protect the paint from damage caused by the halter. Such damage is commonly due to the vinyl, plastic, nylon, or cotton halter constantly rubbing against the vehicle exterior during vibration and wind. Thus, strips or pieces of the polyvinyl chloride material are specially placed upon the vehicle to provide a much-needed barrier between the halter and paint. Similarly, strips or pieces of the polyvinyl chloride material may also be placed as barriers between any other existing vehicle protection device and the vehicle itself. Finally, such strips or pieces may be adhered to the vehicle by the method of static cling, wherein electrostatic properties of the material allow the same to tightly engage the vehicle surface absent the usage of adhesives. As such, the adhesion method allows the polyvinyl chloride strips to be removed from the vehicle and re-used in a convenient manner.

Apparatus and method for protection of a vehicle exterior portion

A method and apparatus for protecting an area of an exterior of a vehicle from damage due to contact from debris and other objects. The method comprises the steps of forming a template by tracing the area to be protected, position template over material used to form protective covering and cutting protective covering to match traced pattern. Once cut, the protective covering is divided into pieces having dimensions less than 18 inches by 18 inches. The area to be protected is then cleaned and dried. After cleaning, the area should be waxed and buffed. If the area has been oxidized or is abused a compound should be applied prior to waxing. The protective cover is grasped, the static charge is increased by rubbing with a cloth or applying a desiccant and positioned over the area to be protected. A force is applied towards the area to be protected causing the protective cover to adhere to the area by static electricity. The process is repeated with each section of the protective cover until the desired area is covered by the protective cover. The protective cover is preferably formed from 'FLEXcon CV-800 100PW' or a Poly Vinyl Chloride with a high concentration of plasticizer. The protective cover is also pliable, clear and transparent so as not to affect the appearance of the vehicle when applied. Furthermore, it is easily removed by grasping a corner thereof and applying a force in a direction away from the vehicle.
