A protective film includes a base layer and a wear layer, the wear layer comprising a UV cured hardcoat resin, and the UV cured hardcoat resin comprising surface modified silica nanoparticles. The protective film may comprise a pressure sensitive adhesive for adhesion to a floor. The protective film may be used, for example, as a protective floor finish.

A pressure sensitive adhesive composition comprised of: a) 75 to 99.9 weight percent of a tackified thermoplastic polymer component comprising 1) 1&#x2013;99 weight percent of a thermoplastic polymer substantially without epoxy-binding or ester functions, and 2) 1&#x2013;99 weight percent of a tackifier; and b) 0.1 to 25 weight percent of an epoxy component comprising a cured epoxy and non-woven webs made of this adhesive composition.

Microspheres comprise a polymer including one or more of 1) a plurality of C,or larger alpha-olefin units wherein the C,or larger alpha-olefin units are incorporated into the polymer so as to give an average number of less than one branch point per C,or larger alpha-olefin unit, 2) a plurality of C,alpha-olefin units wherein the C,alpha-olefin units are incorporated so as to give an average number of branch points greater than 0.01 per C,alpha-olefin unit, and 3) cyclopentene or substituted cyclopentene, the microspheres having an average diameter in the range of 1 to 300 micrometers. Optionally, the polymer of the microspheres can be crosslinked. The microspheres can be prepared by suspension or dispersion polymerization processes using aqueous or organic reaction media. Powder coatings can be prepared from the microspheres.

Various catalyst precursors are used for the thermal decomposition of azide-containing polymers and oligomers. The catalyst precursors are organometallic complexes which upon thermolysis are capable of liberating at least one coordination site, thereby generating a catalyst for the thermal decomposition of the azide-containing polymer or oligomer.
