A depth monitoring and valve lockout automatically resists operation of a valve when a wireline is being used within a well. The system utilizes components which can be attached to presently available wellheads, wireline lubricators, and accumulators without modification. A wellhead unit detects a beacon secured to a wireline lubricator to determine the wellhead for which the lubricator is being used. Proximity sensors detect proximity indicators secured to the wireline reel to detect rotation of the reel. Rotation of the reel is used to determine the presence of wireline within the wellhead having the wireline lubricator. An accumulator unit actuates linear actuators to move the presently existing lockout controls in response to the presence or removal of the wireline.

Wireline depth monitoring system with valve lockout

The diving device is comprised of a hollow hull with a side profile which is rounded at the front and tapered at the back for low resistance in water. The hull includes side wings on opposite sides of a bulbous body. Handles are arranged in the wings. The buoyancy of the diving device is adjusted by letting in or draining water through a valve at the back of the hull. Fill level marks on the hull show how much water is inside the hull, which is preferably transparent to show the fill level. The buoyancy provides resistance during descend and assistance during ascend. A sealed, air-filled shell is positioned inside hull to provide a minimum amount of buoyancy even if the hull is completely filled. A valve at the front of the hull may be opened during ascend to release bubbles for amusement.

Diving device

A gyroscopic diving toy is comprised of a housing and a motor positioned inside the housing. A battery compartment is arranged adjacent the motor for receiving a battery. A swim bladder and a ballast are arranged inside the housing to provide neutral buoyancy and balance. A propeller is attached to an axle of the motor protruding through the housing. The axle of the motor is coaxial with a longitudinal spin axis of the housing. The housing is generally circular about the spin axis for minimizing drag when spinning. When the motor is activated, the housing is spun rapidly in a direction opposite to the rotation of the propeller, and gyroscopic forces generated by the rotation of the housing cause the toy to repeatedly dive and surface automatically for amusement.
