A rotary tool includes a motor having an output shaft, the output shaft defining an axis of rotation. The motor is configured to rotate the output shaft in a first direction about the axis of rotation. An accessory tool retention mechanism is attached to a distal end portion of the output shaft and configured to releasably retain an accessory tool in alignment with the axis of rotation. A fan mechanism includes a plurality of fan blades attached to the accessory tool retention mechanism and extending radially outwardly therefrom. The plurality of fan blades are configured to move air forwardly in a direction that is generally parallel to the axis of rotation as the accessory tool retention mechanism is rotated in the first direction by the output shaft.

Collet fan for a rotary tool

A rotary tool accessory includes a body defining an axis of rotation and having a work piece contacting surface and a drive portion. The body has defined therein a body opening including a first opening portion and a second opening portion. The rotary tool accessory further includes an insert located within at least the second body opening. The first opening portion is contained within a space during rotation of the body about the axis. Both the drive portion and the second opening portion are advanced through a path during rotation of the body about the axis, the path being located outside of the space.

Accessory for a rotary tool

A mandrel and accessory and related combination for use with a rotary tool are disclosed. For instance, the mandrel and accessory combination includes a mandrel assembly and an accessory. The mandrel assembly includes (i) a shaft component defining an axis and having a first portion configured to be received in a chuck of a power tool, and a second portion having a first shaft tooth and a second shaft tooth each extending in a perpendicular manner with respect to the axis, and (ii) a collar component defining a passage through which the shaft component extends, the collar component having a first collar tooth and a second collar tooth. The accessory includes an outer wall structure defining a circular outer periphery; and an inner wall structure defining a coupling opening. The accessory is configured to be releasably coupled to the mandrel assembly.

A switch mechanism for an electrical slide switch that has a detenting or clicking action is disclosed. The switch mechanism provides such detenting action in a mechanism that has a switch lever that moves through an arcuate path of movement and provides a uniform resistance to movement through the entire range of movement of the switch lever.

A brush system for an electric motor is adapted to electrically connect a commutator with at least one field terminal of the motor. The system is provided in a housing of the motor and is accessible via an opening in the housing. In this system, at least one electrically conductive brush is held in contact with the commutator by an electrically conductive brush box, which has an electrically conductive connecting tab depending therefrom. The connecting tab is adapted to be connected to the field terminal. Also included is a frame which is configured and adapted to fixedly receive the brush box. A through hole is provided on the frame for allowing the connector tab to extend through the frame and connect to the field terminal. Further, an access door is configured and adapted to be latched to the opening in the housing by a latch device attached to the access door. A spring mechanism is also attached to the access door for exerting a force on the brush so that the brush maintains contact with the commutator when the access door is latched to the opening.
