A treadmill has a base with a vertically displaceable platform. A mechanism is provided that resists the downward movement of the platform in response to a load applied to the platform. The mechanism also rebounds the platform upwardly with a force applied to the platform in response to a decrease of a load on the platform. A support structure enables stable vertical positioning of the platform with respect to the base.

A dynamic belt-tensioning apparatus for a treadmill includes a base having a first end and a second end spaced from the first end. A foot-striking platform is movably supported by the base so as to allow for vertical movement of the platform during operation of the treadmill. A drive belt has a fixed circumference and is positioned above a top portion of the platform. A drive roller is pivotally mounted adjacent to the first end of the base and engages the drive belt. A bell crank is pivotally coupled to the platform such that pivoting of the bell crank translates into movement of a tensioning roller that is pivotally mounted to the base and that is capable of a range of movement to provide substantially constant tension to the drive belt in response to vertical movement of the platform.

A dynamic belt-tensioning apparatus for a treadmill includes a base having a first end and a second end spaced from the first end. Blade-type prosthesis assemblies include a socket securable to a wearer of the prosthesis assembly and a blade securable to the socket. The blade has a blade body extending between a blade bottom and a blade top. The assembly further includes a base plate securable to the blade bottom. The base plate includes a shroud retainer element. The assembly further comprises a blade shroud covering at least a portion of the blade body and securable to the shroud retainer element and at least one of the socket and the blade body.

A vehicle hull has a longitudinal blast mitigation duct formed between left and right hull portions. The duct includes a first section oriented at a first angle to a longitudinal reference line, and a second section adjacent to the first section and oriented at a second angle to the reference line. The second angle is greater than the first angle to form a diverging surface for a shock wave travelling from the first to the second section. The blast mitigation duct further comprises a second, rearward-oriented diverging surface for a shock wave travelling rearward along the hull. A rib projects generally perpendicular from a joint between the first and second sections and is configured to initiate separation of the shock wave from the hull, thereby reducing the amount of energy transferred to the hull.

An active stabilizer bar system includes an impeller slidably encased in a housing which separates the housing into a sealed first cavity and a second cavity. On forced application of fluid through at least one of the ports, the impeller is axially moved along the housing which rotates at least one rotor with respect to the housing to vary the forces applied by the stabilizer bar on the vehicle suspension.
