A load balancing method and incorporated frame assembly is provided for a computer frame having side walls. The frame can have at least one reinforced side, and/or a top or bottom surface comprising of a skin base plate and a counterweight plate secured to one another by side stiffener plates. In an alternate embodiment, an integral extender can also be secured to a top portion of the frame. The extender has moveable sides and a hoist for raising and lowering components into and away from the frame.

High end robust computer frame with improved load balancing design

A load balancing method and incorporated assembly is provided for a computer frame having side walls. The assembly comprises a mid-plane plate having top and bottom sides and capable of being secured to the frames inside side walls. The mid-plane plate also has means both on its top and bottom sides for securing a number of electronic books in such a manner that they can be stacked on top of or adjacent to one another. A locking mechanism can also be provided as part of the assembly or alone to further secure the electronic books to the frame.

Load balancing robust computer frame

A method and incorporated assembly for enhancing structural rigidity of a computer rack used for housing electronic components is provided. In one embodiment, the assembly comprises a casing made of a lighter weight material and having protrusions. The protrusions are formed to receive one or more ruggedized inserts that is made of a heavier and/or stiffer material. The casing and the inserts together can be then used as a ruggedized side of a computer rack or cage.

Assembly and method for ruggedizing computer racks and/or electronic cage assemblies

Securing and supporting electronic components in a computer node disposed on a computer rack. The method comprises the steps of first disposing a tray having one or more wedge block assemblies in the rear of said rack such that each wedge block assembly can be moved under and engaged with each node. The wedge block mechanism is retained from side to side using guide brackets. The mechanism and the tray are then torqued into place by using incorporated hard stop feature on said tray. The nodes can then be engaged and disengaged through the engaging and disengaging of the wedge block assembly. This is done by using a rod that is connected to a fastener one end and to a pivot at another end and is integrated into the wedge block mechanism. Once the fastener is moved the pivot is also moved causing the mating and unmating of the node.

Assembly and method for enhancing structural integrity and improving serviceability of electronic card disposed in a computing environment

A method and incorporated automatic air blockage assembly door is provided. The assembly comprises an air blockage door secured to a frame, capable of moving from a first to a second position via a pivot block and a shaft. The movement of the door is enabled by securing the door via the pivot block to an arm mechanism. The mechanism includes a pivot member and an activation pin. The activation and deactivation of the pin causes the movement of the door.

Automatic air blockage assembly and method for computing environments

An enclosure apparatus provides for combined air and liquid cooling of rack mounted stacked electronic components. A heat exchanger is mounted on the side of the stacked electronics and air flows side to side within the enclosure, impelled by air-moving devices mounted behind the electronics. Auxiliary air-moving devices may be mounted within the enclosure to increase the air flow. In an alternative embodiment, air-to-liquid heat exchangers are provided across the front and back of the enclosure, and a closed air flow loop is created by a converging supply plenum, electronics drawers through which air is directed by air-moving devices, diverging return plenum, and a connecting duct in the bottom. In a variant of this embodiment, connecting ducts are in both top and bottom, and supply and return ducts are doubly convergent and doubly divergent, respectively. Auxiliary blowers may be added to increase total system air flow. The enclosure also may be provided with automatically opening vent panels to allow room air to circulate and cool in the event of an over-temperature condition. The design of the enclosure permits it to be constructed apart from the rack-mounted apparatus and subsequently attached to the rack, if desired, at the facility at which the rack had been previously operating.

An apparatus for securing an object to a surface comprises a mounting cover having a first surface and a pair of sidewalls depending away from the first surface. The sidewalls are in a facing spaced relationship and secured to a second surface. At least two securement members are secured to the first surface between the pair of sidewalls. The securement members are configured to define a receiving area. Each securement member has a pair of engagement members secured within at least a pair of openings in the first surface. Each pair of engagement members include an upper surface. The upper surfaces of the pairs of engagement members are flush with respect to the first surface. An actuating member having a first portion, and a second portion depending away from said first portion, is configured to be slidably engaged in the receiving area. The second portion has a pair of engagement openings for slidably receiving a pair of guide members mounted to the object.

Apparatus for fastening objects flush to a surface

An exemplary embodiment of the present invention is a method for fastening an object flush to a surface. The method comprises inserting an engagement member of the object into an opening in the planar member. The engagement member moves in a first direction and remains at or below the surface of the planar member. The engagement member of the object is repositioned in the opening while moving in a second direction. An engaging force is then applied to the engagement member in a third direction. The engaging force causes the engagement member of the object to be secured within the opening flush or below the surface of the planar member.

In particular, the retainer frame, together with an actuator bar, is employed in conjunction with a cabinet with guides and a stop mechanism to produce an initially horizontal insertion motion followed immediately by a vertical motion during which electrical connection is made between the card and a corresponding connector in the cabinet.
