A power supply unit (PSU), including: an active bridge rectifier, including: a plurality of field effect transistors (FETs); and a controller connected to each of the FETs; a power source connected between first and second terminals of the active bridge rectifier; and a capacitor connected between third and fourth terminals of the active bridge rectifier, wherein in a charging state: the controller performs, at a first time, zero-crossing detection of voltage of a power signal from the power source at the first and the second terminals, and in response, provides a first control signal to each of the FETs to enable each of the FETs for a fraction of a phase of current of the power signal such that the capacitor is charged during the fraction of the phase by the power signal.

Systems and methods are provided that may be implemented to control operation of a power supply unit (PSU) during a low power state. The disclosed systems and methods may be implemented to control operation of a PSU relay included within the PSU, while the information handling system is operating in a low power state, e.g., such as the modern standby (S0ix) state. The disclosed systems and methods may also be implemented to provide intelligent PSU relay control that may be utilized to control operation of the PSU relay when the information handling system is entering, operating within, and exiting the modern standby (S0ix) state. This intelligent PSU relay control may include at least two operating modes: a modern standby mode and a normal mode of operation, and may be implemented to ensure that the PSU relay remains off during modern standby and returns to normal relay operation upon exiting modern standby.

Systems and methods for controlling operation of a power supply unit (PSU) during a low power state

Controlling power consumption at an IHS, including receiving electrical power associated with an initial voltage at a first time; determining that the IHS is to enter a low-power state, and in response: adjusting an UVP parameter for the electrical power from a first voltage to a second voltage, the second voltage less than the first voltage, the second voltage based on the low-power state; adjusting an OCP parameter for the electrical power from a first amperage to a second amperage, the second amperage less than the first amperage, the second amperage based on the low-power state; trimming the initial voltage of the electrical power to a trimmed voltage, the trimmed voltage less the initial voltage and greater than the second voltage; adjusting the power state of the IHS to the low-power state; receiving the electrical power having the trimmed voltage at a second time after the first time.

Trimming voltage provided by a power supply unit to an information handling system to reduce power consumption at the information handling system

A method for increasing power supply voltage in an information handling system in a normal mode with a first peak voltage comprises, in response to receiving a request for a higher peak voltage, an embedded controller (EC) receiving information associated with the application including a request for power at a higher peak voltage, a housekeeping IC communicating a signal to a PWM IC to increase voltage supplied to the information handling system to the higher peak voltage, the PWM IC converting from the PSU to the higher peak voltage and starting a timer with a defined time period. If no additional requests for operating at the higher peak voltage are received before the time period expires, the PWM IC communicates a signal that power will stop being supplied at the higher peak voltage, and the information handling system returns to operating in the normal mode at the first peak voltage.

System and method for increasing power supply peak power capacity

An information handling system includes a triangular chassis and a plurality of antennas that provide optimized coverage in all directions around the triangular chassis. An antenna may be operated from each vertex of the triangular shaped base chassis. Alternatively, an antenna may be operated from each of three main side surfaces of the triangular shaped base chassis. One or more of the antennas can be selected for communication based on the ability to communicate with external network components. Disclosed systems provide omnidirectional coverage around the triangular chassis while minimizing the effects of shadowing caused by abase chassis.

Antenna method and apparatus

An information handling system includes a triangular chassis, a plurality of graphics cards, and a plurality of air movers. An air stream of a first air mover may be axially aligned with the graphics cards and the first air mover may to direct the air stream into a first zone of the information handling systems including the graphics cards, the air stream being parallel to a longitudinal axis of the graphics cards. The first air mover may be a fan and the air flow may be laminar. A second zone of the information handling systems may include a CPU. The first zone may include a power supply unit. The air movers may be controlled independently, enabling independent control of a temperature in the first zone and a temperature in the second zone.
