A manual distractor unit is mounted upon a support frame attached to an operating table side rail. An ankle strap is attached to the support frame and to the patient's ankle. A patient's knee support pad, extending from the distractor unit, is positioned under the patient's knee to provide traction to the patient's limb at the ankle, which is secured to the support frame by the ankle strap.

An operating table support clamp includes top and bottom jaw clamps containing a pair of interconnecting rods for allowing movement of the top jaw clamp between open and closed positions, Serrations on the rods interact with serrations within the top jaw clamp for automatically locking the top and bottom jaw clamps together against an operating table side rail.

An extended flexible meshed enclosure is arranged between a patient's hand and a grooved support plate upstanding from the associated operating table to support the patient's hand during surgery of the patient's associated limb. To assist in holding the patient's fingers within the meshed enclosure, a hooked and looped strap is wrapped around the patient's finger and surrounding meshed enclosure.

A femoral distractor includes a top post for positioning under a patient's knee and a bottom pin for fixed attachment to a hospital bed rail. A vertical rod extends between the top post and horizontal bottom pin to move the knee joint in the vertical direction upon operation of a trigger assembly.

A separate anterior pelvic support unit is then positioned over the patient and joined to the sacral support unit via a post extending from the top of the sacral support unit. Both units are movably adjustable in the vertical and horizontal plane to accommodate a wide range of patient sizes for surgery where lateral decubitus positioning of the patient is required.

A hand-held leg length discrepancy device in the form of an extended pin separated a fixed distance from a laser diode determines the length of a patient's leg after hip replacement surgery. A self-tapping first indication screw is partially inserted within the patient's pelvis prior to surgery, the extended pin is positioned on the screw and the laser beam is directed on the patient's leg. The location of the laser beam is recorded by means of an indelible ink mark or a drill hole. After surgery, the extended pin is positioned on the screw on the hip and the laser beam is again directed on the second mark or drill hole on the leg to determine any change in distance there between.

A surgical tool in the form of a three piece bone graft inserter includes a pair of concentric cylinders having elongated apertures formed in the side walls of the cylinders to allow the interior of one of the cylinders to be loaded with the bone graft material, and a plunger that extends through both cylinders. Rotating one of the cylinders thereby &ldquo;closes&rdquo; &ldquo;the apertures creating a closed cylinder filled with the graft material. The ends of the cylinders are inserted into the bone void and the plunger is advanced forward to move the graft material into the bone cavity.
