The described implementations relate to distributed computing. One implementation provides a system that can include an outlier detection component that is configured to identify an outlier task from a plurality of tasks based on runtimes of the plurality of tasks. The system can also include a cause evaluation component that is configured to evaluate a cause of the outlier task. For example, the cause of the outlier task can be an amount of data processed by the outlier task, contention for resources used to execute the outlier task, or a communication link with congested bandwidth that is used by the outlier task to input or output data. The system can also include one or more processing devices configured to execute one or more of the components.

System and method for proactive task scheduling of a copy of outlier task in a computing environment

A method, computer-readable medium, and user interface for displaying an inquiry indication related to an inquiring user's inquiry are described. An inquiring user prepares and submits an inquiry in an inquiry application. Upon preparing and submitting an inquiry, a notice of the inquiry is generated and routed to the inquiring user's network contacts. An inquiry indication is generated to notify network contacts that an inquiry has been submitted by the inquiring user. A network contact may select the inquiry indication to display an inquiry feature and may select an inquiry feature to view the inquiry and respond to the inquiry.

Methods are described for utilizing user-submitted data to provide a response to a query request. User-submitted data are received and referenced upon receiving a query request from an unregistered requester, a potential response is automatically identified from the user-submitted data, the potential response is extracted, and presented in response to the query request.
