A yaw control system and a method of controlling yaw for an aircraft are provided. The yaw control system includes a first wing set and a second wing set which are rotatable in opposite directions. Each of the wing sets includes at least two wings each including a pivotable flap forming a trailing edge of its respective wing. A flap control assembly controls the pivotable flaps of the first wing set and of the second wing set such that when the pivotable flaps of the first wing set are pivoted in a first direction by a first set angle, the pivotable flaps of the second wing set are simultaneously pivoted by a second set angle in an opposite direction, thereby providing yaw control for the aircraft.

Yaw control system and method

A customizable, modular circuit breaker housing assembly having an optimized compact form factor for use with electrical and telecommunications equipment. The housing assembly is comprised of an interlocked arrangement of individual housing portions coupled at one end to an end housing portion, and to an end panel portion at an opposite end. The end housing portion and individual housing portions include a load bus chamber and a line bus chamber for receiving load and line bus members, and one or more alarm contact member receptacles for receiving at least one alarm contact member. The line bus member and the alarm contact members may be provided as individually segmented members. In other embodiments, the individual housing portions may include pass-through slots for inserting a common line bus bar, pass-through apertures for common contact members, or both. The line and load bus members are formed of extruded metallic members having substantially the same cross-sectional surface. Mounting devices are provided on the end housing and individual housing portions for coupling the modular circuit breaker assembly to a mounting panel of the equipment.

Modular circuit breaker housing assembly

A system and method for the stabilization of battery temperature by alternating airflow through an internal ductwork of a cabinet housing electronic equipment and circuitry. Ambient air is drawn through one or more intake vents or louvers provided with the cabinet housing. Regulated airflow through the ductwork allows the cabinet housing's thermal management system to direct either cooler ambient air during warm periods or heated air during colder periods through the cabinet to stabilize the battery temperature as well electronics equipment and circuitry housed in the cabinet. At least a portion of the heated air is expelled through one or more exhaust vents. Because no active components are used for stabilizing battery temperature, thermal regulation is achieved even during utility power outages. Further, thermal energy is provided without the possibility of igniting hydrogen gas products generated by the battery units present in the cabinet.

Battery temperature stabilization system and method

A current-fed DC-to-DC converter (10) includes an input choke (20) which reduces current fluctuation in the converter (10). A power transformer (26), which is coupled to the input choke (20), transforms electrical energy at one voltage magnitude into electrical energy at another voltage magnitude. A first output rectifier (32) is coupled to the input choke (20). A second output rectifier (34, 36) is coupled to the power transformer (26). A first isolation diode (38) and a second isolation diode (40, 42) are coupled to the anodes of the first output rectifier (32) and the second output rectifier (34, 36), respectively. A transient voltage suppression element (12) is coupled to the first isolation diode (38) and the second isolation diode (40, 42). The transient voltage suppression element (12) limits the magnitude of voltage transients created by the input choke (20) and the power transformer (26) during operation of the converter (10), thereby preventing damage to the first and second output rectifiers (32, 34, 36).

Magnetic amplifier post regulator (54) includes magnetic amplifier (42) that has a main magnetic amplifier winding, reset transistor (76), error amplifier (58), and auxiliary magnetic amplifier winding (220). Magnetic amplifier (42) controllably blocks a portion of the input voltage N.sub.s /N.sub.p V.sub.IN from winding (30) of transformer (18) in response to a controlled resetting condition and produces therefrom a magnetic amplifier output voltage (v.sub.2). Auxiliary output circuit (14) uses the magnetic amplifier (42) output voltage (v.sub.2) to produce the desired auxiliary output voltage (V.sub.OS). Reset transistor (76) controls reset current to magnetic amplifier (42) in response to an error signal from error amplifier (58). Error amplifier (58) compares auxiliary output voltage (V.sub.OS) to predetermined reference voltage (66) and generates the error signal from the comparison. Auxiliary magnetic amplifier winding (220) has a predetermined number of turns (N.sub.2) on magnetic amplifier (42) and increases the dynamic range of magnetic amplifier post regulator (54) for controlling reset transistor (76) and auxiliary output circuit (14) so that auxiliary output voltage (V.sub.OS) may attain a zero value while reset transistor (76) controls magnetic amplifier (42) in a blocking state (T.sub.B) during the entire on-time (T.sub.ON) of power switch transistor (24) of primary circuit (16).

Method and circuitry for controlling current reset characteristics of a

Start-up control circuit (152) regulates the output voltage (V.sub.OS) of a power supply circuit (150). Magnetic amplifier control circuit (54) includes magnetic amplifier (42) and error detection circuitry (58, 68, and 70). Start-up control circuit (152) includes sensing circuitry (76 and 184) for generating sensing signals in response to voltage levels (V.sub.CC and V.sub.EE) in error detection circuitry (58, 68, and 70). Sensing signals indicate whether error detection circuitry (58, 68, and 70) voltage levels are sufficient to drive magnetic amplifier control circuit (54). Reset circuitry (190 and 192, and 194) associates with the sensing circuitry (76 and 184) for initially resetting magnetic amplifier (42) to prohibit output voltage (V.sub.OS) from power supply circuit (150) when the sensing signals indicate that voltage levels are insufficient for error detection circuitry to drive magnetic amplifier control circuit (54). Reset circuitry (190 192, and 194) further associates with reset control transistor (76) for controllably decreasing the reset of magnetic amplifier (42). Reset circuitry (190, 192, and 194) further associates with magnetic amplifier control circuit (54) for shifting control of magnetic amplifier (42) to magnetic amplifier control circuit (54) as voltage levels increase sufficiently for the error detection circuitry (58, 68, 70) to drive magnetic amplifier control circuit (54).

Method and circuitry for controlling start-up characteristics of a

Two pulse-width modulated power supplies are synchronized to operate at 180.degree. of phase shift to reduce the peak amplitude of the instantaneous current drawn from the DC input bus. The circuit includes means for disabling the synchronization upon detection of an undervoltage fault condition on the output of either supply. This feature allows frequency programming techniques to be used to provide foldback current limiting for either supply without affecting the operation of the other supply.

Switching mode power supplies with controlled synchronization

Overvoltage and component failure protection for redundant current-mode controlled power supplies operating in parallel takes a supply off line when the supply drives the output bus to an overvoltage condition, without removing properly functioning supplies from the bus. The supply is also taken off line when either the error amplifier or the PWM fails.
