The subject matter described herein includes a roadway stud control system including a local stud control system positioned along a first section of a roadway, a plurality of roadway studs, each roadway stud disposed on a surface of the first section of the roadway and communicably coupled to the local stud control system, wherein the local stud control system is configured to communicate a control signal to control at least one aspect of the plurality of roadway studs.

An electricity meter comprises a conductor having a substantially planar surface; and a carrier for carrying a sensor component for enabling detection of current flowing in the conductor, wherein the carrier is spaced from the planar surface of the conductor by an arrangement of at least three spacing elements. Sensor and/or power-harvesting apparatus are provided for sensing and/or harvesting energy across a relatively wide dynamic range of a driving rotational input. The apparatus may include a rotor magnet () responsive to a driving rotational input (). Utilization of a togging effect or a magnetic spring effect results in certain rapid-rotation events where the rotor magnet can rapidly rotate regardless of a low rate of rotation of the driving rotational input. A coil assembly () is magnetically coupled to the rotor magnet to generate a signal in response to rotation of the rotor magnet during the rapid-rotation events. This signal may be used to harvest electrical energy and/or may be processed to determine characteristics of the driving rotational input.

Information to be displayed on a display is generated in such a way that a gateway processes a measured value (with a time stamp) transmitted from a power meter, an appliance monitor, a solar module, and a battery center through a wireless LAN. In the gateway, information relating to the consumed electric energy is synchronized with each other by the time stamp. Further, an integrated value of the consumed electric energy is calculated with respect to time. The information can be secured by obtaining the integrated value of data even if breakdown of devices and the like occurs due to power failure.

Power control device and power control method

Control of supplying power to a storage device is performed based on carbon emission strength or a power rate. A battery centerthat constitutes a storage deviceperforms radio communication with a gatewayand is controlled by the gateway. The gatewaycollects a measured value of power consumed by electric appliances in a home and obtains the carbon emission strength in real time. A solar panelis provided and a battery of the storage deviceis charged with an output of the solar panel. The battery is also charged with direct current power obtained from power from outside. The power is stored in the storage devicebased on the carbon emission strength by charging control.

A current sensor comprises a first component comprising plural coils. Each coil comprises one or more turns printed on at least one planar surface of a respective substrate, and the planes of the coils are parallel to one another and are perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of the first component. A second component comprises soft magnetic material and has first and second planar faces that are at opposite ends of the first component and are arranged perpendicularly to and are intersected by the longitudinal axis of the first component.

Sensors

A magnetic sensor for discriminating between high and low coercivity magnets is disclosed. The sensor comprises a first magnetic field operable to orient high and low coercivity magnets in a first magnetic orientation. The sensor also comprises a second magnetic field, lower in strength than the first magnetic field, and operable to orient only the low coercivity magnets in a second magnetic orientation opposite to the first magnetic orientation. The sensor further comprises a sensor for ascertaining the magnetic orientation of each of the magnets and thereby identifying if a magnet is a high coercivity magnet or a low coercivity magnet.

Magnetic sensor

To solve problems arising when a power conditioner equivalent to that connected to a solar panel is connected to a power storage device. Direct-current power generated by the solar panelis supplied to a DC-DC converterand output as a predetermined direct-current voltage. The output voltage of the converteris supplied to a DC-AC inverter. Direct-current power generated by the power storage deviceis supplied to a DC-DC converter. Predetermined direct-current power from the converteris supplied to a DC-AC inverter. Alternating-current power output by the inverteris supplied to an alternating-current power system at home. The converteris configured to have two output voltages. The first output voltage is a standby voltage. The second voltage is a voltage at which the inverterstarts power supply to outside.

Power control device

A sensor for use in detecting a time-varying current in a conductor () comprises plural sets of two oppositely-configured sensor elements (--) arranged around a sensing volume having a central axis, the sensor elements (-A,-B) of each set being provided substantially in a common plane that does not intersect the central axis, and each set having a different common plane, the sensor elements of each set being arranged such that a normal (N) of their common plane at a point between central parts of sensor elements lies on a plane (P) that is radial to the central axis of the sensing volume.

Current sensor

A gas meter gas a conduit for passage of a gas flow; an ioniser arranged to ionise the gas flow in the conduit; a modulating electrode structure arranged for modulating the ion distribution in the ionised gas flow; and at least a detecting electrode structure downstream of the modulating electrode structure arranged for detecting the modulated ion distribution in the ionised gas flow. The modulating electrode structure is arranged downstream of the ioniser and is configured to generate an electrical field which is substantial in a parallel to the direction of the gas flow.

According to an embodiment of the invention, there is disclosed a method of operating a wireless mesh network. The method comprises: seeding the network from a first node; allocating a network address to each member node of the network to form a tree-like structure of the nodes, such that the network address is reversibly derived from the network address of the member node from which it is derived in the tree-like structure; and mapping out cross-branch network connections between nodes that are determined not to be immediate neighbour nodes according to the addresses of the tree-like structure. Further related system embodiments are also disclosed.

System and method for wireless mesh networking

The present invention relates to a system for measuring the level of granular material in a container immersed in an aqueous medium, particularly, but not exclusively, for use as a measure of sanitizer level in spa and whirlpool halogenation systems. Electrodes fixed in the container wall are used to measure the electrical conductance along a path which is part filled with the granular material. Coils of wire are arranged such that the interrogating signal is coupled inductively to the sensor head. In this way the granule container can be made demountable, with no bare conductor material exposed to the aqueous medium. A separate reference circuit is used to measure the conductivity of the water in the system, and this signal is used to normalize the signal obtained from inside the container.
