An assembly is provided or supporting a flat monitor in adjacent but underlying relationship to a preferably window pane equipped, preferably rectangularly-configured aperture provided in a desk-type working platform. An aperture frame extends about perimeter portions of the aperture. A flat monitor support platform is located beneath but adjacent to the aperture. Joining components extend between and interconnect portions of the aperture frame with portions of the flat monitor support platform. A flat monitor is supportable by the platform with the platform generally suspended from the aperture frame with the aperture frame so positioned in the aperture. The flat monitor viewing screen with the flat monitor so supported is viewable through the aperture. The inclination of the flat monitor viewing screen is adjustable if desired. Various aperture frame structures, flat monitor support platforms, and joining components can be utilized.

Combined work station aperture frame and flat monitor support

Apparatus and method are provided for preparing a viewing aperture in the top deck of a work station. The aperture when formed is provided with a liner sleeve adjacent to its perimeter. The outside face of the liner sleeve engages the edge wall of the aperture and the inside face of the liner sleeve supports rim portions of a transparent panel that is inset across the aperture. Various cross-sectional profiles for the aperture edge wall and the opposing faces of the liner sleeve can be used. The structures provides a reliable procedure for making an accurately sized aperture for monitor viewing in a deck.

A template assembly is provided for cutting an aperture in a deck. The template assembly comprises a pair of sized frames, one of which is positionable in spaced, parallel relationship relative to the other, and furthermore one of the sized frames extends over the deck. A bracket is included along an adjacent side edge of each of the sized frames, where the bracket adjustably vertically spaces each of the sized frames from the other. The bracket further includes a clamp for holding the bracket at a predetermined position. A retaining device is included for holding the sized frames at a fixed position against the deck.

Apparatus and method are provided for preparing a viewing aperture in the top deck of a work station. The aperture when formed is provided with a liner sleeve adjacent to its perimeter. The outside face of the liner sleeve engages the edge wall of the aperture and the inside face of the liner sleeve supports rim portions of a transparent panel that is inset across the aperture. Various cross-sectional profiles for the aperture edge wall and the opposing faces of the liner sleeve can be used. The invention provides a reliable procedure for making an accurately sized aperture for monitor viewing in a deck.

An adjustable monitor support assembly is provided which incorporates a shelf member, side supports and slide plates between each side support and the shelf member. Elongated slots are provided in the side supports and in the slide plates with those in the slide plates being perpendicular to those in the side supports, and adjacent ones thereof are interconnected by a key. The front of the shelf member is pivotally connected to each slide plate. The shelf member is thus vertically and horizontally positionable and tiltably adjustable relative to the side supports, and the shelf member is spatially fixable by an adjustable clamp.

Adjustable monitor support assembly

An adjustable monitor suspending assembly is provided for a monitor that is positioned under a transparent portion in the top surface member of a desk-like structure. The suspending assembly is adjustable and suspends a forward upper region and a rearward upper region of the monitor. The suspending assembly avoids the need for a shelf member for supporting lower portions of the monitor.

An adjustable monitor support assembly for a monitor is positioned under a transparent portion in the top surface member of a desk-like structure. The support assembly utilizes a shelf member that is supported by laterally outwardly extending associated stub shafts. A pair of rails is provided and each one thereof is located along a different lateral side of the shelf member. The stub shafts slidably engage the rails so that the shelf member is movable relative to the rails. Retaining members for holding the shelf member at a desired location along the rails are provided. Since the rails are parabolically curved, the monitor is movable with the front face being generally perpendicular to the eye levels of various seated users.

A computer work station is described in which a work table has a transparent generally horizontal work surface, a keyboard rested upon this table, and a CRT. To make the work station more usable, the CRT is movably suspended beneath the transparent work surface so that the screen of the CRT is visible therethrough. The CRT is preferably mounted for side to side, forward and back, swingable and rotational motion so as to be movable to a variety of positions and angles beneath the transparent work surface whereby its display will be conveniently visible on many portions of the table desired by the worker.
