Examples for monitoring impedance of a hydrogel in an electrode. The electrode is applied to a patient to measure impedance through the patient's body. Hydrogel is used to conduct electrical signals between the patient's body and sensing circuitry of the electrode. The impedance of the hydrogel can change over time as the electrode is being worn. When the electrode is applied to a subject, the device measures the impedance of the hydrogel to determine a baseline value. This baseline value can then be used to calculate any necessary impedance corrections over the life of the electrode. Measurements are taken via a separate conductive trace that measures only impedance through the hydrogel and not from the patient's body. This allows for more accurate impedance readings to be taken with the electrode.

Extended wear electrode baseline determination for wearable device

A therapeutic wrap includes a flexible member configured to wrap around an affected area. Actuators are operably coupled to the flexible member. Each actuator is operable between a deployed state and a non-deployed state. A first coupling feature is disposed proximate a first edge on a first surface of the flexible member. A second coupling feature is disposed proximate a second edge on a second surface of the flexible member. The first coupling feature is configured to engage the second coupling feature when the flexible member is wrapped around the affected area and when the flexible member is slidably adjusted relative to the affected area. A retaining feature is coupled to at least one end of the flexible member and configured to retain the flexible member in a selected position on the affected area.

An indicia-reading module is capable of integration into the smallest face of thin-profile smart device. The module employs chip-on-board packaging and a customized sensor enclosure to eliminate the stack-up height found in conventional packaging. The module also employs a customized frame to reduce volume by integrating circuit subassembly circuit boards into a unique architecture and by serving as the lenses for the illuminator and the aimer, thereby eliminating the need for any extra lenses or holders.

A wearable device for sensing vital signs includes a flexible housing, at least one light emitter attached to the flexible housing, the at least one light emitter configured to emit optical signals, and light sensors attached to the flexible housing. The light sensors are positioned on opposite sides of the at least one light emitter. The flexible housing is structured to attach to a skin surface and flex at least partially around an anatomical structure enabling the light sensors to receive both reflective and transmissive optical signals near a chest of a subject.

Wearable device for sensing vital signs

A stethoscope includes a housing that has a first surface and a second surface. The first surface defines a first groove on a first side of the housing and a second groove on a second side of the housing. A photoplethysmogram sensor assembly is operably coupled to the housing and is configured to obtain and push data to a controller. The photoplethysmogram sensor assembly includes a first optical sensor disposed in the first groove and a second optical sensor disposed in the second groove. Each of the first optical sensor and the second optical sensor includes an emitter and a detector. A phonocardiogram sensor is coupled to the second surface of the housing and is configured to obtain and push data to the controller.

Active stethoscope

A wearable health management system includes a flexible member configured to be worn on an affected area by a patient. At least one actuator is operably coupled to the flexible member. The at least one actuator is configured to be adjusted between a deployed state and a non-deployed state. At least one of a photoplethysmogram sensor and a bioimpedance sensor is coupled to the flexible member to obtain one or more health metrics from the patient. A controller is in communication with the at least one actuator. The controller is configured to adjust the at least one actuator to the deployed state to provide a selected pressure to the affected area.

Wearable health management system

Existing currency validation (CVAL) devices, systems, and methods are too slow, costly, intrusive, and/or bulky to be routinely used in common transaction locations (e.g., at checkout, at an automatic teller machine, etc.). Presented herein are devices, systems, and methods to facilitate optical validation of documents, merchandise, or currency at common transaction locations and to do so in an obtrusive and convenient way. More specifically, the present invention embraces a validation device that may be used alone or integrated within a larger system (e.g., point of sale system, kiosk, etc.). The present invention also embraces methods for currency validation using the validation device, as well as methods for improving the quality and consistency of data captured by the validation device for validation.

Devices, systems, and methods for optical validation

A photoplethysmography (PPG) device includes an equipment module which includes a photodetector and first and second light emitting diodes (LED's) adapted to emit light of first and second wavelengths, respectively. The PPG device also includes a mask covering the patient facing extremity of the equipment module so that when the device is applied to a patient the mask is situated between the patient and the patient facing extremity. A processor is adapted to control drive current and/or operating time of the second LED to achieve an elevated localized body tissue temperature of a patient to which the PPG device is applied.

Photoplethysmography device with thermal trapping and/or warming capability and associated methods

A terminal for measuring at least one dimension of an object includes at least one imaging subsystem and an actuator. The at least one imaging subsystem includes an imaging optics assembly operable to focus an image onto an image sensor array. The imaging optics assembly has an optical axis. The actuator is operably connected to the at least one imaging subsystem for moving an angle of the optical axis relative to the terminal. The terminal is adapted to obtain first image data of the object and is operable to determine at least one of a height, a width, and a depth dimension of the object based on effecting the actuator to change the angle of the optical axis relative to the terminal to align the object in second image data with the object in the first image data, the second image data being different from the first image data.

Terminals and methods for dimensioning objects

The present invention embraces an optical indicia reader, e.g., barcode scanner, that captures images of optical indicia under multiple imaging conditions within the span of a single frame. The reader includes an image sensor having selectively-addressable pixels that can be divided into groups having regions of interest (ROIs) within the reader field of view. Each pixel group is shuttered separately to obtain independent partial frame images under separate imaging conditions.

An indicia reading terminal has a three-dimensional depth sensor, a two dimensional image sensor, an autofocus lens assembly, and a processor. The three dimensional depth sensor captures a depth image of a field of view and create a depth map from the depth image, the depth map having one or more surface distances. The two dimensional image sensor receives incident light and capture an image therefrom. The autofocusing lens assembly is positioned proximate to the two dimensional image sensor such that the incident light passes through the autofocusing lens before reaching the two dimensional image sensor. The processor is communicatively coupled to the two dimensional image sensor, the three dimensional depth sensor, and the autofocusing lens assembly.
