Example in-situ stress measurements in hydrocarbon bearing shales are disclosed. A disclosed example method includes lowering a downhole tool into a wellbore penetrating a subterranean shale formation, logging via the downhole tool, a portion of the wellbore adjacent the shale formation to generate logging results, processing the logging results to select test intervals along the portion of the wellbore, performing a stress test at one or more of the selected test intervals to generate stress test results for the shale formation, and adjusting a model representing at least one property of the shale formation based on the stress test results.

In-situ stress measurements in hydrocarbon bearing shales

A method for calculating transmissibility, pore pressure, permeability and/or other properties of a subsurface layer comprising the modeling of the borehole pressure recorded from the time the subsurface layer is fractured by isolating said subsurface layer with a downhole tool, pumping fluid into the subsurface layer and stopping pumping said fluid once the formation is fractured until a pseudo-radial or pseudo-linear flow is reached. Measuring properties of low permeability formations

Example methods, apparatus and articles of manufacture to measure gas reservoir formation pressures are disclosed. A disclosed example method includes positioning a downhole bubble sensor in a wellbore formed in a geological gas reservoir formation, trapping a fluid in a portion of the wellbore including the bubble sensor, pressurizing the trapped fluid, reducing pressurization of the fluid until the bubble sensor detects one or more bubbles in the fluid, recording a pressure of the fluid when the bubble sensor detects the one or more bubbles, and determining a formation pressure of the gas reservoir from the recorded pressure.

Methods, apparatus and articles of manufacture to measure gas reservoir formation pressures

Methods and related systems are described for making measurements at multiple locations in an annular region of a cased sequestration well. A first tool module is positionable within the well and adapted to directly or indirectly measure changing pressure at a first location in the annular region of the well. A pressure change is induced at the first location in the annular region. A second tool module is positionable within the well and adapted to directly or indirectly measure changing pressure at a second location in the annular region. The measured pressure changes at the second location are in response to the induced pressure change at the first location.
